The Herefordshire region

Herefordshire really is a world away from a busy working day. Much of the county is completely unspoilt and the location of The Coach House, set on the edge of the small village of Stoke Prior, provides easy exploration of this gloriously pastoral countryside. For every day needs, the market town of Leominster is only 3 miles away and has a BR railway station. There are a wealth of National Trust properties, parklands, gardens, the historic black and white village trail and of course, the historic city of Hereford- with it's magnificent Mappa Mundi - and the medieval town of Ludlow with its castle ruin, both just 12 miles distant. Ledbury is a 30 minute drive, and Hay-on-Wye, famous for its many book shops and literary festival is about 20 miles distant. You will be in easy reach of the Malvern Hills, the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains and the stunning Carding Mill valley is 45 minutes away.To keep the body fed, Herefordshire boasts the most wonderful choice of locally reared and grown foods to either enjoy at home or in local pubs and restaurants.

THE COACH HOUSE is surrounded by fields and open countryside and located on the outskirts of the small village of Stoke Prior in the 5 acre grounds( much of which are open to guests ) of The Old Rectory, a former Victorian church house. There is easy or more strenuous walking on the doorstep and, for yet more activity, tennis, horse riding, fishing and golf all within a 10 minute drive. There are 3 National Trust properties within a 15 minute drive and the local market town of Leominster, famous for it's many antique shops is only 3 miles distant.. The peace and tranquility of this property will immediately relax you and allow for a most memorable holiday in the gem that is Herefordshire.

Spacious, well appointed property. The friendly owners are there if you need them, but regard the property as yours for the length of your stay, allowing maximum privacy. We found The Coach House to be clean, comfortable and well equipped. The area is beautiful, with many places to eat within easy reach. There are some lovely walks from the end of the driveway. Fantastic welcome basket. Thank you for a lovely break. We came home feeling relaxed and refreshed.

"Simply the Best!"

I stayed here with three friends from 20-31 July 2013 and this idyllic retreat shot straight to number 1 on our self-catering list. We've stayed in 5* in the past and they have been excellent but The Coach House is the Harrods of them all. Not only is the location perfect for exploring wonderful Herefordshire but the CH itself is outstanding and the owners Gill & Peter are hosts with the most! The CH has everything you want and more; the refurbishment is top notch and the bedrooms have deliberately been made the same size so no arguing over who gets which! Two bathrooms too are a bonus (often we four have to go for 3 or 4 bedroom properties to secure this luxury). We had the bedroom with the separate shower bathroom and it was just great; beautiful uncomplicated shower and big cubicle! You have to visit this place for yourself as I could wax lyrical for hours and it still won't do it justice. G&P surpassed themselves in making us feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable, even giving us tips (and hand-drawn maps) for some of our excursions. We opted for a meal in their home one evening and it was delicious and we were made so welcome by G&P and their delightful dogs Jumble, Ellie and Daisy. The extensive grounds that G&P tend daily make a wonderful place to have an evening walk and the Indian Runner ducks on the ponds are an added bonus. We hope to return to the CH and continue exploring this beautiful county in the near future. Thank you Gill & Peter for your brilliant hospitality - you deserve 6* rating!

What more can we say - 6 STAR guests and we even managed to provide 6 STAR weather too! It was a real pleasure for us. Hope to see you all again in the not too distant future.

"Luxury accommodation in tranquil setting."

Our family stayed here in the spring time and it was wonderful. The hosts couldnt have been more helpful to us and were so lovely and welcoming. The accommodation was spotless, excellent quality and very well equipped. There was nothing at all that I could have needed for home comforts. The Coach House has been very tastefully decorated and is to a very high standard throughout which is reflected in every room. Gill cooked for us one evening which was a welcome extra as the food was incredible and excellent value. We would recommend The Coach House very highly for excellent accommodation and we hope to have a repeat visit in the not too distant future.

So lovely that this family made use of our grounds. Their 15 year old son flew his remote plane in the pasture most days with his Dad.Spring is a glorious time at The Coach House - so many bulbs in bloom everywhere you look. We hope to welcome this family again, not least since they are expecting another baby in November. Good luck!

"Comfortable and convenient"

The interior is decorated and equipped to a high standard guaranteeing comfort and pleasure. The view from the patio is wonderful. The kitchen makes self-catering easy and if this is too much trouble, Gill and Peter will cater a delicious dinner for you. The location is very peaceful and there are several picturesque local towns and villages where you can sight-see, shop and eat. Lovely!

"Home away from home!"

Our week at the The Coach House was fabulous! The house was modern and filled with top of the line everything! It was exactly what we expected. We booked from America and found the owners to be easy to communicate with via email. When we arrived the house was fully decorated for our Christmas stay and Gill went out of her way to plan a special surprise for our daughter. We will definitely be staying there again on our trips back to England!

2012 saw our first Christmas with The Coach House. It was great fun preparing the building for our American visitors. They were a joy to have and their daughter loved spending time with the horses at our local racing stable.

"Complete escape and relaxation"

Beautifully appointed and thoughtfully equipped accommodation. They have thought of everything! So relaxing to sit on the balcony among the pots of flowers and herbs and enjoy the view. Bedrooms were cool and comfortable in the heat of the summer, and open-plan living area and kitchen facilities were first-class. So much to see in this beautiful part of the country. We hope to return to The Coach House soon.

"The ultimate rural retreat: bliss."

The Coach House is wonderfully located in a quiet and secluded valley. The views are simply stunning. The accommodation is beautifully presented and comprehensively equipped; very luxurious in every respect. Everything there is so stylish. Maintenance, cleaning and preparation were faultless. We have high standards and expect a lot. The Coach House delivers right across the board. The owners, Gill and Peter, are charming and very welcoming and yet unobtrusive. This adds such a lot to the overall experience. We have stayed there before and will be returning to The Coach House many times in the future. A real treasure.

"Just stunning......"

I am thrilled to be the first to review the Coach House. If you are contemplating visiting this part of the world then look no further. The accommodation is 5 star, with quality fittings and accessories. The open plan living, dining and kitchen area was wonderful. The setting is lovely and quite tranquil. We will definitely return.
