About the home

A beautifully bright and modern apartment conveniently located in one of the most charming and oldest villages on the Lake, Lenno.

Lenno is a pretty village just south of Tremezzo and has a charming harbour, interesting historical centre and weekly market. The impressive Villa Balbianello is also nearby.

It is a small pleasant town in a good location and only 10 minutes southwest of Menaggio, from where you can take the car ferry over to Bellagio & Varenna. The town dates back to Roman times and the baptistry in the village square is from the eleventh century and the crypt of the church dates from the twelveth century.

There is a perfectly formed open-plan Kitchen/Living and Dining space with a balcony to enjoy the fresh air and sit out with a morning coffee.

This apartment offers much entertainment for guests such as a flat screen Satellite TV and DVD Player. A cell phone is also available for personal use!

A King Size Bedroom and a Sofa bed offers flexible and comfortable accommodation.

There is a gated car park with an allocated space for guests using a car during their stay, and a lift can be used to access the property.

Car hire is not a necessity here as the bus stop is almost next door, providing a frequent and cost-effective way of transport around the Lake. A frequent boat service to all parts of the lake also runs from Lenno.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.

It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.

All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Warming, inspriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto
narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

The Lenno area

Lenno is a pretty village just south of Tremezzo and has a charming harbour, interesting historical centre and weekly market. The impressive Villa Balbianello is also nearby.

It is a small pleasant town in a good location and only 10 minutes southwest of Menaggio, from where you can take the car ferry over to Bellagio & Varenna. The town dates back to Roman times and the baptistry in the village square is from the eleventh century and the crypt of the church dates from the twelveth century.

For exploring Lake Como the peaceful little town of Lenno is an excellent choice as, having its own ferry point, it makes getting around by boat an easy and pleasurable experience. It is situated between the probably better known lakeside towns of Moltrasio and Tremezzo.

Lenno has a Tuesday market stretching along the promenade which sells a wide range of products including fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, cheeses and meats, clothes, shoes and many more. Close by are some good shops and restaurants with everything you need to enjoy your stay, there is also a beach (which is stoney but popular with holiday makers and locals)

From the property, you can leisurely stroll out into the village and eat at a variety of restaurants, pizzerias or bars every night of the week! The property also offers a direct access route to the Lake by way of a cobbled path at the side of the building, which forms part of the famous Lago di Como Greenway path which links the local historical villages.

Lenno's local amenities, including 2 supermarkets, banks, post office and pharmacy are a short, level walk away.

Como city is only 25km away, reached by car or Ferry and offers a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere as well as regular trains to Milan and other popular destinations.

Golf

There are Golf clubs around Lake Como: The Cadenabbia & Menaggio Golf Club celebrating 100 years this year and is Italy's oldest golf course. Established in 1907 with 18 holes Par 70, it is located above Menaggio near Croce, in Grandola ed Uniti, approx. 20 min. by car. Tel: +39 344 321 03. Green Fees: Weekdays EU 55, Weekends and Holidays EU 70 Euros; Golf Cart Rental EU 36.
Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended.. Guests are always welcome, please call beforehand to check course rules. Golf Club Menaggio: (Menaggio Como).

There is also a first class Golf Course at Varesse for those staying nearer to the Lake Maggorie area.

Skiing

This beautiful lake region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its scenery, crisp air and near perfect visibilty and mountains capped in winter snow. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out.

There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema , not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border.

There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs.

The closest major ski resort is Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass, which is approx. 1 hr 20 min. by car.

Ferries & Bus Services: There are public transport links which consist of a Taxi Boat service and a regular Bus service to the towns of the North and South of the lake.

Back to work now and the holyday is a distant memory but a lovely one.
Bell'Lenno was very central and handy for all escursions we wanted to experience while there,
Very pleasant and well appointed appartement, a bonus was having the car safely parked.
It was a lovely holiday, and saw all the various gardens around the lake, tried all of the restaurants in Lenno, the grigliata on the square on the 15th of August and will have lovely memories of it all. The lady in the Ufficio del Turismo was very professional and helpful.
Will definitely recommend your place to all of my students (Adult Ed) who are interested in lake Como. It was one of them who mentioned Lenno to me in the first place.

Making a Booking

To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
