BookThe East Anglia / Suffolk region
Suffolk is a wonderful place for holidays with family or friends. The Suffolk Coast and surrounding area offers beautiful countryside, sandy and shingle beaches, forests, heath land and pretty towns and villages to explore. Suffolk like its neighbour Norfolk is renowned for its slow pace of life and perhaps partly due to this the Suffolk Coast has long been an inspiration to famous artists, writers and musicians, looking to draw inspiration from the surroundings, people and places.
There is so much to see and enjoy locally including nearby Thorpeness a picturesque village developed around a Victorian mere where you can hire out a small rowing boat or sail boat and meander around small islands themed by the Peter Pan novels. A little further down the coast is Aldeburgh a delightful coastal town with shops, coffee shops, restaurants and gallery's. Dunwich can be found if you head north up the coast, once a thriving port Dunwich was once viewed as the capital of England based on commerce and trade. The ravages of the sea have now destroyed most of Dunwich and today only a small village remains. Southwold a little further north is renowned for its lighthouse, pier and is also home of the Adnams brewery. Heading south down the Coast you find Orford once a fishing hamlet Orford is now popular with holiday homers looking for a taste of suffolk. A little further down the coast is Woodbridge a pretty market town with independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
Other places of interest include Framlingham Castle, Snape Maltings, Flatford Mill and Kentwell Hall. Fun family days out include Pleasurewood Hills theme park and Africa Alive all within reasonable driving distance from your accommodation.
The Leiston / Sizewell area
The area surrounding this apartment at Beach View is a designated AONB (The Suffolk Coast and Heaths), it offers fantastic coastal and heathland walks. Sea fishing is also popular from the beach which is just 50 metres from the accommodation. The RSPB reserve at Minsmere is just a few miles walk up the coast and Westleton and Dunwich heath are two great locations to spot deer rutting (at the right time of year). Leiston and the hamlet of Sizewell are closest to your accommodation. Leistons heritage is built on steam and industrial manufacturing. Leiston was the home of the 'Garrett Works' a specialist manufacturer of steam engines, war time artillery and tanks, the history of Leistons industrious past can be enjoyed at the Long Shop Museum in the town centre. Just a few miles away you will find Thorpeness and Aldeburgh both popular coastal destinations for holiday makers, Aldeburgh is renowed, some would even say famous for its fish and chips.
