The Heart of England/Peak District

The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Leek

The village of Meerbrook is on the edge of a popular walking area known as the Roaches, and is just four miles from the market town of Leek. Meerbrook is a short walk away from Tittesworth reservoir, which offers many activities and has a visitor's centre. The heart of village life is the local pub, which serves traditional ales and good food. Buxton is only 12 miles away and has a wider choice of places to eat and an interesting selection of shops. The town's museum is well worth a visit as is the Opera House, with its wide variety of entertainment on offer. For thrill seekers, Alton Towers is a short drive away and has year round activities available for all ages. This area has a lot to recommend it to the visitor and makes a great holiday base.
