The Heart of England/Peak District
On the border of Wales, Herefordshire boasts spectacular countryside and is steeped in history. If it’s walking, canoeing, ruins, castles, churches, gardens, or family fun, there are many things for everyone to do here. The county hosts many events – from rural galas and ploughing matches, to literary, poetry and music festivals, marmalade and scarecrow fairs. The town of Hereford is based in the heart of the county, surrounded by a necklace of individual market towns, each with their own style and story to tell.
The ancient market town of Ledbury, 4 miles from Eastnor, is well worth a visit and boasts a good selection of pubs, food and craft shops. Further afield and within a 30 minute drive are Tewkesbury Abbey, Hereford and Gloucester cathedrals, Cheltenham, Ross on Wye, the Cotswolds and Forest of Dean.
