The Heart of England / Peak District / Peak District/Derbyshire region

The Hall is located in a quiet village, on the East bank of the River Derwent, a few miles from Matlock and Cromford. The village is surrounded by lovely, peaceful countryside with excellent walking and cycling from the door.
The contrasting landscape of the region is never more apparent than in the High Peak to the north, where you'll find the Derwent Valley's historic ‘Dam Busters' dams and the popular show-caverns in the picturesque village of Castleton. Lying at the foot of the spectacular gorge of Winnats Pass, the village is dominated by the ruins of Peveril Castle which dates back to the time of William the Conqueror.
Further south, the craggy gritstone edges and limestone valleys of the Derbyshire Dales offer endless opportunities for walking and cycling. Here, the many charming villages and larger market towns, like Bakewell and Ashbourne, have a traditional ambience steeped in history and with their own unique atmosphere.
The Lea area
All the major sights of the Peak District, such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Carsington Water are readily accessible from the Hall.
Whether you're visiting the industrial heritage of the Derwent Valley Mills world heritage site, exploring historic houses and gardens such as Chatsworth or Hardwick Hall, riding a vintage tram up a cobbled street at Crich Tramway Village or dropping into Oblivion at Alton Towers, there's a huge variety of visitor attractions to edify, exhilarate or simply entertain you!
Whatever your interest, you'll find a huge range of events available, from walking festivals, sheep dog trials and country shows to farmers' markets, art exhibitions, music festivals, culinary demonstrations or even woodland laser quest in the National Forest!
