The Poitou-Charentes region

The beautiful unspoiled region of Poitou-Charente is located south of the Loire valley and extends down as far as the Perigord region. It is second only in its warm climate to the Cotes D'Azur making it the second hottest region in the whole or France. It is a region of undulating countryside interspersed with gorgeous rivers and lakes. It is dotted with historic towns, fabulous architecture and charming villages, but in spite of all its rural charm the region still manages to offer its many visitors lots of activities to suit all tastes, including such places as the amazing Futoroscope, the theme park that is loved by children from 9 to 90!

Why not come in August, visit the nearby town of Confolens and experience the wonderful international music festival concluding with an amazing firework display set on the River Vienne that wends its way through this most beautiful and lively town renowned for its fine bars and restaurants.

Le Vigeant

Our local village of Le Vigeant is a small community overlooking the beautiful Vienne river and although slightly off the beaten track Le Vigeant still offers an amazing amount of diverse activities including canoeing, fishing , swimming, horseriding, windsurfingand every weekend throughout the summmer ,bungee jumping.

There are also excellent walks and cycling routes. Just a little further, 4 kilometres is the delightful little town of L'Isle Jordain with its array of cafes, bars and shops including a large supermarket, garage ,petrol station and bank. The town can be viewed from a magnificent viaduct which spans the river Vienne and is the venue for the weekend bungee jumps for those brave enough to try! Closer to home (2km) we have the famous Circuit du Val de Vienne ,home to car and motor cycle racing, a very exciting day out for all the family.

"Great house for a group"

My husband and myself stayed here with our 21 year old son, his girlfriend and our 18 year old daughter as an end of exams - end of University get away before they disappear off into work and the youngest started university. The house is an ideal size for this size group, the bedrooms are spacious and there is plenty of rooms and outside space so that you are not all under eachother's feet.

"lovely holiday home"

we found the service excellent including being rung a few days before leaving home to see if we wished to have groceries bought ready for our arrival. The house was beatiful and very clean, sumptious bedding and lots of fluffy white towels.the garden and pool was also lovely including the gazebo creating a fly and wasp free zone for outside eating. We loved the peace and tranquility of the area. would definatly reccomend to friends
