The Nord-Pas-de-Calais region

Le Touquet is the sophisticated tourist capital of the Nord Pas de Calais region. Part of the Cote D'Opal, Le Touquet has an immense, safe beach of fine sand, bordered by a conservation area of protected dunes, punctuated by headlands offering ideal look outs for wildlife spotting.

Signposted “discovery trails” point the way for a delightful walk through the woods. Set between the "sea and forest" the landscape is peppered with charming Anglo-Norman villas, and the parklands and banks of flower arrangements offer a wonderful palette of colour.

Le Touquet – Paris-Plage

There is a whirlwind of organised events over the whole year, both sporting and cultural, from the “Enduro” motorbike race along the beach, to wine and classic music festivals. Ideal for relaxation too, with friendly shops and charming boutiques or a more informal visit to the covered market to stock up on French produce, with a twice weekly market.

Le Touquet offers you discos, party nights and a vibrant night life with the lure of 2 casinos. For your wellbeing why not try the benefits of the Thalossotherapy seawater spa?

Other attractions include 3 golf courses, the Aqua Lido, sand yachting, the 4th largest tennis complex in France with outdoor pool just next door to the apartment, the Base Nautique Sailing School and the Centre Equestre Parc International Riding School. We also recommend Opalaventure for high-wire adventure and Rando-Rail at Lumbres for those with surplus energy! Close to L'Etaples with its famous fishing cooperative and WW2 cemetery, the medieval walled town of Montreuil, Agincourt and Nausicaa at Boulogne for a day out with the family, Download their map (www.nausicaa.co.uk) to work out what you want to see most - so much to see that's it's quite tiring if you have small children in tow! Le Touquet is ideal for a family holiday, a golfing weekend or a gastronomic shopping spree!

This was the third time I've stayed in Apartment L'Hermitage, in order to play golf on the fabulous Cote D'Opale. You can get a golf passport and play six courses in a week for €250. The courses a… More

"Super location in classy town"

L'Hermitage is a prominent & well-situated building on the entry road into Le Touquet high street. Five mins walk to the shops/restaurants & ten minutes to lovely sandy beaches. The apartment has its own parking spot in the garage under the building with remote control access - great security & a bonus in a town where parking is difficult & chargeable. The entry height access is tight - our Touran with roof bars fitted ok but we had to take the top box off before entering the garage & stored it in the apartment. There is secure entry into the apartment block & a small lift to all floors - apartment is on the top level (4th floor) - we chose to use the stairs all week to burn off some of the extra calories being consumed! The apartment is spacious & well configured for 6 people. There is a large double bedroom & small twin which share a bathroom off a corridor to the right as you enter. A third bedroom has its own hallway & bath/sink room, situated off the lounge area. Everyone had good privacy. The lounge area was compact but housed a table for 6 with a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens. The kitchen was also compact but very well equipped, we found everything we needed with plentiful cutlery, plates, glasses etc. A second toilet is independently situated by the kitchen. The TV channels selection was superb with English speaking programmes freely available. Our teenagers appreciated access to a movie library on rainy days & chill out nights. Le Touquet is an upmarket seaside resort with a monied clientelle. The selection of restaurants is impressive & we very much enjoyed our daily jog for fresh bread & cakes. The town is very easily accessed by foot & felt safe enough to let our younger teenagers explore by themselves. They enjoyed hanging out on the beach & had a great time in Jeans cafe listening to the live music. The thrice weekly market is superb & we enjoyed drinking our cafe au lait outside in the midst of the jazz festival & lively vibe. The kids enjoyed a trip to Bagatelle on a rainy day, whilst we had a gastronomique lunch in Montreau - everyone's happy. A trip to Etaples to see the war memorial is very moving: we made a second visit there to show the kids as we felt it was something they should experience for themselves. A favourite expedition was hiring bikes & cycling along the coast path out to the Equestrian Centre - how the other half live! Pretty route & worth the ride to see more of the town. There is a big Carrefour on the road between Le Touquet & Etaples, which is worth a visit if you intend to do some self-catering, as prices were much cheaper there than in town - which gave Monoco a run for its money in some instances! Our teenagers were pretty horrified by the prices in the clothes shops - thankfully the market is much better value. When our eldest daughter had an accident in the High Street, the support from the French people present, police & ambulance crew was fantastic. Overall, we had a great week. I wasn't sure the word 'holiday' would cover a trip with 4 teenagers but both Le Touquet & Apartment L'Hermitage worked well for everyone :)
