Further details indoors:
Approached via a downstairs hallway, a sweeping staircase leads you up to an impressive open-plan living space incorporating lounge, kitchen and dining area. With its high beamed ceilings, limestone floors, huge traditional central fireplace and double french doors, the room extends out onto a balcony terrace overlooking the extensive, mature gardens and pool area.
This terrace has a large table that seats ten and its own BBQ. Sofas are set amongst coffee tables, chests and bookshelves with a library of useful guidebooks and information. A large cabinet houses the TV with Satellite TV in English and DVD player. There is also a WiFi setup for the use of your own personal laptop. The kitchen is light and spacious, with a door leading directly to the outdoor eating terrace. Modern appliances, including hob, oven and microwave, granite work surfaces and an additional bar with stools completes this kitchen with a stylish finish.
There is also an indoor dining table and chairs, seating 12 and a utility room with washing machine.
A spacious, light bedroom with wooden floors and fitted wardrobes, leads directly into a large en-suite bathroom with W.C. walk-in power shower, and ornate Victorian bath. There is a separate W.C. and two further bedrooms upstairs (one twin and one double) both with wooden floors and large windows looking out on to the garden. Both bedrooms have doors leading to the same en-suite bathroom between them, with two sinks and large power shower. Leading off from the main hallway are the ground floor bedrooms, both with beautiful French doors leading directly out on to the garden terrace. These are wonderfully light and tastefully furnished with double beds, mirrors, bedside tables with lamps, wardrobes and share a modern bathroom directly next door with beautiful large walk in limestone tiled power shower, W.C. and wash basin.
Garden
Further details outdoors:
A variety of mature trees, including cherries, olive and fig, combine to create a beautiful enclosed garden with large lawn. There is a spacious, tiled, fenced-in pool area, a 10.5m X 5.5m pool, with another BBQ by the pool and plenty of sun loungers. There is an enormous amount of space around the pool area and garden which must be emphasized as it is perfect for families with lots of children.
There is another large table on the downstairs terrace which seats 10 people. The house is South-West facing for sunshine all day long and is surrounded by orchards and fields ensuring safety and quiet. Floodlights in the pool, under the shelter and trees around the pool create the perfect evening ambiance. The villa provides ample secure parking with shelter from the sun for cars.
Further details
There is an apartment located within the house to the side with its own separate entrance, garden and driveway with gates. It does not overlook the main house or garden and ensures clients at The Apple Orchard have complete exclusivity of the main house, garden and pool at all times. We use the apartment ourselves from time to time and like to think of this as a positive, being there if people need us for anything. Otherwise we are completely separate at all times.

There is a 25% Booking Deposit to hold the reservation with the Final Payment being made 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. Credit Card Payments can be accepted through PayPal.
The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Vaucluse region

It is not simply the blue skies that make Provence so special. It is the magical light that falls over the picture book landscape setting a relaxed tone to everything it touches. Such is the beauty of exploring this region of France. Calm days pottering through local towns, steeped in history. From castles to brocantes, cafes to ice cream parlours, markets to wine tasting caves, there is an abundance of activity and places to visit.
Avignon sets the tone with its magnificent Palais du Papes and Pont d’Avignon; the wondrous Pont du Gard with the river to take you back in time, bountiful vineyards with caves for tasting, Mount Ventoux for hiking and cycling, and a network of market towns with cobbled streets and intriguing shops.
The Le Thor area
Le Thor is a very typical, local French town made charming by the presence of the river running through, with colourful flowered bridges and the impressive Romanesque church, “Le Notre-Dame-du-Lac”. The morning markets, with fresh local produce and wares, bakeries, flower shops and tabac’s, bring an abundance of activity whilst the cafes, set under Platane trees in the shade, are the perfect spot to sit and watch it all go by. There is also a large super market just outside Le Thor for all your shopping that stays open late on Saturdays (8pm) and until 12 noon on Sundays.
Le Thor is very central to many different places of interest. 20 minutes by car can take you to some of the most famous villages and landmarks: There is the beautiful and picturesque Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and the famous antiques markets and river cafes of L'Isle sur-la-Sorgue.
Both Avignon and Carpentras have long summer festivals with music, dance and theatre, with Avignon's cultural activities continuing throughout the year. The local villages have fetes during the long, hot summer months. Avignon and Carpentras are also a shoppers delight, as are all the daily local markets and brocantes.
The coast is a one hour drive away, with the pretty resort of Cassis the closest. The Camargue is just over an hour and a half away, with its wonderful wild life of flamingo's, bulls and horses. The Roman cities of Vaison, Orange, Aix en Provence, and Arles are also not far away.

Grandparents, parents and three young-adult grandchildren could not have been happier with this house, its location and value. We'd all love to return! |

The Apple Orchard is a gorgeous, spacious property well-located near a decent marché (Le Thor) and convenient to the bustle of Avignon on the one hand and the scenic wonders of L'Isle Sur Sorgue, Gordes etc. on the other, The house has a huge amount of space, is very well appointed, and has a walled yard you could play soccer in. It has a beautiful pool, cherry trees, and sense of gentle isolation (punctuated by the sounds of nearby agriculture that are, in their own way, very relaxing) that is incredibly restful after a day out in the tourist bustle. You can walk to a local winery with quite passable wines. What more can one ask? Audrey and Peter were excellent hosts, and though they're now mostly in England I'm sure the place will retain their sense of welcome. The place was so lovely that we didn't do nearly as much sightseeing as we had planned. It was just too easy to stay by the pool... |
Guestbook for The Apple Orchard
The last two weeks have been absolutely fantastic! I think that it is mainly
due to this superb house. All the rooms were lovely and I especially love the
2 rooms downstairs with doors opening out to the garden. The pool has been
great as well and the strip of gravel by the side of the pool has been ideal
to play boules on. We hate to leave!
We have really enjoyed our stay at The Apple Orchard - completely as described
on the website - and we will very highly recommend this beautiful place to our
friends. Thank you very much.
There is plenty to see and do in this area and we packed a lot in over the fortnight, but it is always nice to come back to The Apple Orchard for a dip in the pool. A lovely holiday in a superb property.
All ten of us fitted in perfectly, the kids downstairs, adults up. Weather been perfect, loads to do, could have filled several more weeks.
Three generations enjoyed a stay at this superb villa in a beautiful setting. The facilities and accommodation were all we could have hoped for.
