The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

The French Alps are those parts of the Alps mountain range which lie in France. They are within the regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes.they are the largest in the world.

Savoie (Arpitan : Savouè d’Avâl) is a French department located in the Rhône-Alpes (Rôno-Arpes) region in the French Alps.

It is one of the two departments of the region of Savoy that was annexed by France on March 24, 1860 after the Treaty of Turin, the other being Haute-Savoie. For history before 1860, details of the annexation and reasons for the current separatist movement in the departments, see Savoy.

The Le Praz de Lys area

This is a small traditional French village close to Mont Blanc in the heart of the French Alps. Supposedly the resort has better snow at times than other nearby resorts like the ever popular La Clusaz. The medieval town of Yvoire on the lakes of Geneva is 45 minutes drive from Le Praz de Lys.

Le Praz-de-Lys is in an exceptional setting on a sunny Giffre Valley plateau opposite the Mont-Blanc range. Many ramble paths that the whole family can enjoy criss-crossing this beautiful wooded area.
