About the home

Le Moulin de St Blaise is just a 15 minute stroll from the local village where you can pick up your morning croissants or lunchtime baguette. The quaint town of La Chartre sur le Loir is just a 5 minute drive away, as is the local supermarket where you can stock up on all your needs.

Your holiday can be as active as you like! Local activities include water sports and swimming at the lake beach at Marcon, jet skiing and quad bikes, archery, fishing, golf and many more outdoor pursuits. Le Foret de Berce with wonderful walks and cycle tracks is just 15 minutes away. Visit the stunning Chateaux of the Loire or try out the local wines with a wine tasting.

Alternatively just kick back and relax, dangle your feet in the river and enjoy your holiday in our 10 acre grounds in a truly tranquil setting.

The mill house (La Minoterie) at Le Moulin de Saint Blaise is the larger of two individual properties for rental either separately or together. It has central heating, a games room, 3 reception rooms, 3 double bedrooms (1 en suite) and 2 twin bedrooms (1 en suite). There are also 2 further single beds which can be provided for groups up to 12 and placed either on the large landing area or in one of the huge double bedrooms.

Spread over 3 floors (the 2 large en-suite bedrooms are in the converted attic) the property retains many original features such as the enormous bread oven in the kitchen/diner, the gear workings of the old mill in the dining room and the focal point of the living room is the large fireplace with it's wood burning stove. There is plenty of room so that even with maximum occupancy guests will never feel cramped.

The house is fully equipped with kitchen equipment, including toaster and microwave and guests have the use of the laundry room. Bedlinen and towels are included in the rental price.

Further details outdoors:
Le Moulin de Saint Blaise is set in 10 acres with a river running through. Guests are welcome to stroll around the grounds and fish in the river. There is a private enclosed, paved terrace immediately to the rear of the property and a raised decking area - perfect for sunbathing.

A barbecue is available for guests use, as is a range of outdoor games - badminton, boules, quoits or archery.

Guided walking holidays are on offer for 2010 for groups of 4 or more people - see our website for details!

NB: Since we are surrounded by water it is guests' responsibility to ensure that children are properly supervised at all times.

Rental prices quotes are per week for the rental of the property. Linen and towels are provided.

Changeover day is Saturday unless otherwise agreed.

For off peak rentals, or shorter breaks changeover days can be varied.

Ask for our special rates for Le Mans events when we can also offer accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis.

The Loire Valley / Sarthe region

The Loire valley is famous for its beautiful châteaux, the larger and well known of which are just a hour's drive away. More locally we have smaller, but just as interesting châteaux, at Le Lude, Ponce sur le Loir and Le Grand Luce. The lesser known Loir river is just as beautiful and winds its way through several towns locally - the nearest of which is La Chartre sur le Loir.

We are in two different wine growing regions the Coteaux du Loir and Jasnieres and there are several local vineyards offering wine tasting. The cities of Le Mans and Tours are full of architectural splendour, gardens and parks to visit as well as many different outdoor markets.

The race circuit at Le Mans is just 35 minutes away by car, making Le Moulin de St Blaise an ideal place to base yourself during the many events held at Le Mans each year.

The Le Mans / La Chartre sur le Loir area

The nearest village of L'Homme offers a bakery, grocery store and a butchers and is also home to the local wine Museum.

La Chartre sur le Loir is a typical bustling market town with a weekly market on Thursdays and Sundays, restaurants, cafes and small independent shops.

For the very active holiday makers there is the leisure lake at Marcon (just 15 minutes away by car) with a beach, bbq area, archery, horseriding, sailing, canoeing, fishing and much more.

15 minutes in the other directions takes you to another lake with jet skiing, paint balling and quad bikes.

For golfers there are 3 golf courses within an hour's drive (including one at the Le Mans Circuit). Fishermen are spoilt for choice with the lakes at La Chartre, and the rivers Loir and La Veuve.

There are numerous walks and cycle routes in the area with Le Foret de Berce just on our doorstep.

Situated midway between Le Mans and Tours. We are just 15 minutes from the A28 Motorway, and 45 minutes away from the airport at Tours.

We came for the Le Mans 24 hrs. The week turned into a holiday - the best Le Mans week we have had! Great place, company and wine - what a wonderful way to go.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, then this is it! We have had plenty of space, both inside and out and the highlight is the sound of the water bubbling into the pond - especially at night! Elaine and Phil have worked hard to provide a wonderful house. The boys have loved having space to practice their cricket!
