About the home

Whether you are celebrating a special event with friends or looking for a holiday for a large family group, Le Moulin de St Blaise is ideal. With a 5 bedroomed main house and a separate 2 bedroom Gite there is plenty of space for everyone! The rooms in the main house are spacious - with 3 reception rooms on the ground floor and a games room with snooker table, darts board and table tennis on the 1st floor - you'll never feel crowded! The gite is all on the ground floor and would be ideal for those who prefer a little more seclusion. There is also a cot and high chair for younger guests.

The 10 acre grounds are yours to explore. Whether you want to take a cushion and a good book over to the orchard and sit by the river as it gently gurgles by, or organise football or cricket in one of the fields, there is plenty to do. Depending on the time of year, you could even cast a line into the river or millpond and try and catch your supper - we've had brown trout and rainbow trout.

If you are celebrating a special event or would like to organise group activities, we would be more than pleased to help. Our guests have included a 40th birthday party group, motorcycle and motor-racing enthusiasts attending events at Le Mans and large families.

We have also hosted a wedding here (our own!)

The Loire Valley / Sarthe region

The Loire valley is famous for its beautiful châteaux, the larger and well known of which are just a hour's drive away. More locally we have smaller, but just as interesting châteaux, at Le Lude, Ponce sur le Loir and Le Grand Luce. The lesser known Loir river is just as beautiful and winds its way through several towns locally - the nearest of which is La Chartre sur le Loir.

We are in two different wine growing regions the Coteaux du Loir and Jasnieres and there are several local vineyards offering wine tasting. The cities of Le Mans and Tours are full of architectural splendour, gardens and parks to visit as well as many different outdoor markets.

The race circuit at Le Mans is just 35 minutes away by car, making Le Moulin de St Blaise an ideal place to base yourself during the many events held at Le Mans each year.

The Le Mans / La Chartre sur le Loir area

The nearest village of L'Homme offers a bakery, grocery store and a butchers and is also home to the local wine Museum.

La Chartre sur le Loir is a typical bustling market town with a weekly market on Thursdays and Sundays, restaurants, cafes and small independent shops.

For the very active holiday makers there is the leisure lake at Marcon (just 15 minutes away by car) with a beach, bbq area, archery, horseriding, sailing, canoeing, fishing and much more.

15 minutes in the other directions takes you to another lake with jet skiing, paint balling and quad bikes.

For golfers there are 3 golf courses within an hour's drive (including one at the Le Mans Circuit). Fishermen are spoilt for choice with the lakes at La Chartre, and the rivers Loir and La Veuve.

There are numerous walks and cycle routes in the area with Le Foret de Berce just on our doorstep.

Situated midway between Le Mans and Tours. We are just 15 minutes from the A28 Motorway, and 45 minutes away from the airport at Tours.

Ryanair flights to Tours from Stansted and Dublin.
