A south west facing terrace to one side of the cottage has furniture and a BBQ ideal for taking meals accompanied by sunsets and birdsong. The peace is rarely broken with the sounds of sirens but rather the occasional tractor, lowing cow, hoopoo and cuckoo in spring. Buzzards are to be seen all year round. Red squirrels and deer sometimes visit. There are many species of birds to interest the twitcher. Artists will be inspired.
In front of the cottage is a private lawn with arbour seat surrounded by fragrant plants. A low hedge divides this lawn from guests' double parking space. To make unloading luggage and shopping easy there is room for guests to draw up in front of the cottage door.
A swing garden seat is conveniently placed to admire sunsets beyond the neighbouring field. For three years in succession the front garden was awarded a French Tourist Board prize for attractively enhancing the hamlet.
The newly revamped and enticing swimming pool is available 10.00am to 7.00pm from May to September. A small poolside kitchen has a sink, kettle, fridge, crockery and cutlery.
A collection of dainty Japanese acers can be admired from the pool and its terrace. A large spreading beech tree provides welcome shade after sunbathing either beside the pool or the adjacent lawn.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region

The Charente, in SW France, is rivalled only by the Provence for sunshine. It is a region famed for its Charentaise blue skies, cattle, sunflowers, slippers, Limoges porcelain and Cognac. Trips out can be made to picturesque villages, Resistance Movement monuments, pottery outlets, and conveniently placed distilleries.
The capital, Angouleme, is renowned for its annual vintage car race around the streets during the third weekend in September. The city is also home to comic strip and paper making. Every August the pretty town of Confolens hosts a week of international music and dancing.
To the south of the region is the picturesque hilltop village of Aubeterre which has won the title as one of the most beautiful villages in France
The Le Lindois area
Leave your stresses at the airport or motorway and join the peaceful narrow roads taking you through gently undulating countryside to reach our haven at the hamlet of Le Roule. Ipomoea cottage is ideally placed for short drives to a choice of lakes and rivers some hosting a variety of sports and boat rides..
Chateaux, shops, bakeries, water sports, fishing, golf, horse riding, an adventure park for all ages and a fun Velo (five seater bike) route along a disused railway line are within a 10km radius. Exploring the locality will take you along tree lined roads with neatly trimmed verges. Rustic gardens, some brimming with flowers and others with neat veg patches are to be admired. And you can play spot the odd buzzard, bat or owl.
