In a quiet rural village named Savignac de Miremont, on a south facing slope overlooking a little valley with woods and pastures, a lovely stone house can become your home for a week or more. The cottage, 'la Grange', has been lovingly restored by its former owners without losing anything of its rustic charm, with tile floor, exposed stone work, and oak beams. The swimming pool takes full advantage of the view across the countryside and is surrounded by a low wall of local honey coloured stone in keeping with the other buildings. On a lower terrace, you will find a bowl court, where you may learn (or teach) how to play 'petanque' during the sunny afternoon hours. The cottage has its own garden (with furniture) easy to reach if you want to eat out, unless you prefer to stay on the terrace by the swimming pool. This house is ideal for a couple or even for three people, but guests can also drop in and use the convertible bed. An ideal spot to discover the Black Perigord.

Living Room: The main room, 200 square feet, with an open fireplace, opens directly onto the private pool (36 x 16 ft) through wide French doors. It has a convertible bed that can sleep two people and is equipped with CD player and stereo system.

Bedroom: An oak staircase leads up to a 320 square foot bedroom under the exposed, and yet insulated, roof framework. It has a queen size bed, an antique single bed (1.20m) and two chests of drawers.

Bathroom: The bathroom has a shower, a sink and toilets.

Kitchen: The open kitchen fitted with oak cabinets, fully-equipped with gas cooker, microwave oven, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. Cooking utensils and table linen are provided.

Towels and linen are included and changed every week.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

You will - enjoy visiting the National Prehistory Museum in Les Eyzies, and the caves of Lascaux (the Sixtine Chapel of prehistory as many scholars say), Rouffignac, Font-de-Gaume, Les Combarelles, Cap Blanc...,

- go back in time in the medieval castles of Beynac, Castelnaud, Montfort, Fayrac...,

- stroll in the fortified villages of Domme, Montpazier, Issigeac...,

- enjoy canoeing down the Dordogne or the Vezere or maybe fly over it in a Montgolfiere, a hot-air balloon...,

- and come back reconciled with the world to a meal of foie gras, confit de canard, or cepe omelette, the local specialties, with a glass of Bergerac wine.

Le Bugue

It is a very quiet place with privacy, but you may also choose to join us in our house across the courtyard for a chat about the local restaurants, or recipes, over a drink of local wine.
