The Aquitaine/Dordogne region
The departement of the Dordogne (24) is found within the Aquitaine region of the south-west corner of France.
The Dordogne is the home to spectacular sites and monuments which provide endless opportunities for cultural discovery.
There are numerous "plus beaux villages de France", including Beynac, La Roque-Gageac, St-Leon-sur-Vezere, Limeuil, Domme, Monpazier and Belves which all merit a visit. The town of Sarlat is the capital of the Black Perigord and has been restored to its 17th-18th-century magnificence.
Of course, one of the big draws of the region is the gastronomy. The Perigord has been called the gastronomic capital of France.
For the more sportive you have walking, cycling, tennis, golf, canoeing, fishing...., or if that sounds too exhausting you can simply relax by the pool.
Le Bugue is built on the banks of the river Vézère, the welcoming little town with nearly 3000 inhabitants dominates the southern entrance of the Vézère valley which is world famous for its prehistoric sites.
Le Bugue offers lots of different choices to the holiday maker: for the sportive (canoeing, cycling, walking, horseriding, tennis), a choice of good inexpensive restaurants, interesting sites to visit and good facilities for everyday needs.
