Home description
Chalet 'Detente' which means 'relaxation' is a comfortable holiday home suitable for couples or families. Situated as it is, on an ancient 'Domaine agricole' it is within easy reach of the Rivers Dordogne and Vezere, and close to the market towns of Cadouin, Le Buisson-de-Cadouin, and Le Bugue. This is an area well suited for the tourist, as there is so much to see and do, whatever your age, ability or interest.
Chalet Detente is set on a gently sloping hillside, with views from the terrace down over the forest and meadow, here you will see nature at its best, with red squirrel, and many species of birds. In the forest are deer and wild boar,'sanglier' . Here also children and adults have plenty of space to play and relax, as the chalet is located in a quiet area of the park, and yet within 5 mins. walk of all the leisure, pools, shop, office facilities etc, of the park. The holiday park is very family friendly, but adults seeking peace and natural beauty will find it here.
The Dordogne is an area rich in history and tradition, not to mention its famous wines and regional foods. Beautiful medieval and bastide towns, its chateaux, vineyards, walnut orchards, troglodyte dwellings, pre-historic cave paintings, and of course its wonderful forest and field countryside, make this an ideal holiday destination. Whether you are looking for a relaxing break, or an energetic holiday, you will not be disappointed!

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
The Dordogne has a temperate climate, Summers are generally hot and dry, and winters are mild. The Perigord, which is the cultural name for this area, comprises four regions. The 'Perigord Blanc' which ,surrounds the town of Perigueux, is an area of limestone cliffs and plateaux, divided by wide river valleys. The 'Perigord Noir' in the South-east of the Dordogne has deep valleys, pine forests, chestnut coppices, walnut orchards, and fields of tobacco,(where the chalet is situated). The 'Perigord Vert' with the town of Nontron is an area of lakes & valleys, chestnut trees, and pine forests. In the South-west, the 'Perigord Pourpre' is an area close to Bergerac, here lie orchards and vineyards. Second to Paris the Dordogne probably has the richest heritage of historical interest in France, for example. Many prehistoric sites - Lascaux, Fond de gaume 1500 chateaux and manors - Beynac, Castelnaud Troglodyte sites - Le village de Madelaine, Le Roc St christophe Geolical sites - Le Grand Roc, Caves de Proumeyssac Fortified walled towns - Domme, Monpazier 400 Roman Churches.
The 13th century bastide town of Monpazier, is well worth a visit, built by the English, the town still has its medieval market place, and surrounding arcades.Brantome on the banks of the Dronne, is known as the 'Venice of Perigord'. Sarlat-La-Caneda is a large town, where on a Saturday, is reputed to be the best market in the region. Tremolat and Limeuil are lovely villages on the banks of the Dordogne, where you can sit in a riverside cafe and enjoy the sights. Cadouin is home to the 'Cloitre de Cadouin.' This Abbey is cited as one of the 'sites de Patrimoine mondial' of the pilgrim routes of the 'Route of Saint Jaques de Compostelle. The holy shroud of Cadouin was an object of pilgrimage for eight centuries. These are just a few of the delights of the area.
If you enjoy water sports, the River Dordogne, offers Kayaking and Canoeing, fishing and swimming possibilities.
Le Bugue area
Le Bugue is a small attractive market town, on the Vezere River, between Limeul where the Dordogne meets the Vezere, and Les Eyzies de Tayac. it is a good place to visit and explore the area, which has managed to avoid some of the excesses of tourism experienced in Les Eyzies and Sarlat. There are plenty of narrow winding streets and some beautiful traditional houses to see. Plenty of cafes and shops to buy your everyday needs as well as presents to take home. There is also an excellent tourist office. Visit the popular Aquarium du Perigord, whilst nearby is Village de Bournat where you can watch traditional; crafts being practiced. Why not visit the many caves in the area, or see the wild boar at Les sanglier de Mortemart.
How to get there
Fly to Bergerac or Bordeaux Airports, the former is approx. 40mins. drive, and Bordeaux is approx.11/2 hours drive to the Chalet.
