Home description
The apartment is on the first floor of a country villa with its own balcony overlooking three acres of garden bordering the Claise river. It is an ideal spot for relaxing by the pool, fishing or enjoying the local bird life in the 'Parc Naturel Regional de la Brenne'. Visitors have their own private entrance, staircase and patio area. There are four adult bicycles available for use and table tennis and other garden sports equipment available. The area is perfect for varied sight seeing with the Loire an hour's drive north, and our local chateau and wildlife park only 6 kms away. This is a little known area with great charm, bisected by wide sedate rivers and peppered with white stone villages and mediaeval market towns. Utterly addicting!

The Loire Valley / Indre region
This area of France is perfect for varied sightseeing and activities. Road connections are good. The Loire valley is famous for it's marvellous chateaux, all of which are an easy drive from the apartment. The climate is mild and settled making for a long season with spring and autumn being particularly good times to visit. There is a wealth of history to explore in the area, with famous names such as Georges Sand, Joan of Arc and Leonardo de Vinci, all having lived in the region. There are local vineyards and wonderful farm produce available from local markets. Futurescope is a futuristic theme park just an hour's drive away - very popular with children and adults!
Le Blanc / Martizay area
Martizay is a pretty riverside village at the junctions of the historical regions of Touraine, Berry and Poitou in central France. There are bakers, butchers, a general store, post office, restaurant, newsagent and bars all within easy walking distance. The local villages are unspoiled, stunning Angles sur l'Anglin, "un des plus beaux villages de France" is only two villages away to the south and a must to visit. Martizay is set in the regional park of the Brenne, a protected wetland of over 2000 lakes with wildlife walks. Gently rolling countryside makes it ideal for cycling and the quiet country roads are ideal for touring.A first rate tennis court is two minutes bike ride away and the owners can book for you.

Fly /drive with Ryanair from Stansted to Poitiers, Tours or Limoges airports or from Liverpool, East Midlands and Southampton to Limoges. Nearest channel port is Caen. Easily accessed from autoroutes. Speedferries from Boulogne - straightforward by Autoroutes

Further details indoors: The private staircase leads via a balcony to a large light and spacious lounge and dining kitchen (8mx5m). The living room has french windows out onto a wide balcony - ideal for al fresco dining! There is a large double bedroom with double bed and cot and a twin bedroom with two single beds or bunk beds plus one single, or another double (depending on requirements). The bathroom/shower is accessed from a central lobby.
Further details outdoors: The 2.5 acre garden contains an outdoor swimming pool (10mx5m) shared with the owners ( Apartment guests may have exclusive use of swimming pool between the hours of 10am - 6pm). The pool is situated close to the apartment. The grounds contain a number of mature trees and a small orchard and are ideal for children's games and sports. The riverside is shaded and some distance from the house (hence no insects!). It is a popular fishing river - fishing can be arranged and tackle stored in the boathouse. A private patio is available to apartment guests, the villa is surrounded by a gravel drive that doubles as a boules court!
Further details
Bedding and towels are provided, please bring your own swimmimg towels or these are available for a small rental fee. The apartment must be left tidy and clean by guests. If you would like the apartment cleaned this will be an additional £25 or 32 Euros on the rental. Well behaved pets are allowed with prior arrangement. Please contact John and Jackie before booking. Please note there is a swimming pool on site. It is alarmed but parents must be responsible for their families safety at all times.
Conditions
A non refundable deposit of £100 is payable upon booking. Final payments required four weeks before holiday date.
