"A great place to stay with young kids, lots of rustic charm and plenty to do."
This place had everything we needed for a lovely, relaxed holiday with two children under seven, including a great feeling of freedom and space, and wonderful hosts in Pascal and Silvie: friendly, unpretentious, helpful whenever we needed them, but never intrusive.
After a long day's train travel from the UK, and a battle to get our hire car in Cannes on the last day of the film festival, we arrived late evening, exhausted and hungry, and were delighted when Silvie offered to order a pizza for us and then to shop for our breakfast first thing the next day.
Our gorgeous little 'cabin' had lots of quirky rustic charm and everything we needed. It was simply, but tastefully decorated with its own private terrace, scented with jasmine, with a wonderful rambling rose framing our view of the mountain peak of Bar-sur-Loup village off in the distance.
Beyond the terrace, the 'shared' gardens featured a fabulous network of tree-platforms linked with rope bridges and rigging, that was surprisingly safe and child-friendly (already carefully road-tested by the owner's own children). A real treat for our kids who were 7 and 4, who needed very little help or 'watching' once we'd done an initial parental 'risk assessment' : the whole thing was so cleverly designed.
The pool area was lovely. We seemed to have it to ourselves whenever we wanted to use it, and the children thought the pool-cleaning robot was hysterical.
All in all this seemed very good value, and we were pleased to be in such a tranquil, rural setting, away from the crush and craziness of the coast, but within easy reach of the seaside (20 mins or so) when we wanted to be.
