The Shiselweni District
This area of Southern Swaziland is typical lowveld bushveld. It is dry and mild in winter (sunny days throughout May-September) but temperatures drop at night. Summer rains transform the bush (October to April) and you can expect afternoon thunderstorms and heavy downpours. However, occasional light soaking rain can occur for two or three days.
It is a rural area of poor subsistance farmers and you can still see traditional Swazi thatched huts and cattle kraals.
The Swazi people are friendly and cheerful and have only ever been ruled by their kings, whom they have always held in high regard.
Royal Jozini Big 6 is set to be Swaziland's flagship Big 6 Game reserve (Big 5 plus TIGERS in the lake) and brings employment to the local villagers and upliftment projects to the area.
It is pristine bushveld - 5 eco systems from wetland to mountain - 450 bird species and the gradual introduction of the Big 5 once stocks are up of the herds of wildebeest, impala, etc.
Brown's Camp is set within the Big 5's protected nature reserve area where you are fee to take nature walks along the roads to see the flora, fauna and myriad of birds. Listen for the call of the fish eagle!
