The house itself is Victorian, comprising two good sized bedrooms (two double rooms or a double and twin room, depending on requirements), upstairs bathroom, dinning room, living room and recently extended luxury kitchen.
Hill Cottage is a fantastic place to stay on a short or long break, having just been completely re-furbished with a new extension to the rear of the building. The garden is very private and ideal in the summer months for al fresco dining. It even has it’s own wishing well at the entrance to the house and garden.

Further details indoors:
You will find the cottage a fantastic, relaxing and idyllic place to stay. LCD TV in the living room, kitchen and main bedroom. DVD with surround sound system. There is a radio an IPod docking station. Wifi access and an Apple Mac PC for your use. The kitchen is very well kitted out, with fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, gas hob and wine cooler. There is also a microwave as well as a good selection of utensils, pots and pans. Upstairs you will find 2 good sized bedrooms with very comfortable mattresses. The spare room can be made up as either a double or two twins.
Further details outdoors:
There is street parking with a good amount of available space. Where you will often find a space right outside the cottage. Bolton street is a very quiet street compared to others in Lavenham that have to coupe with through traffic coming in and out of the village as well as accessing the main square.
A recent discovery to the cottage is it's very own wishing well to the entrance. Brick lined with local Turner bricks it has now been finished off so that a grate secures the opening, and an interior light which makes up a dramatic scene at night
Further details
With each guest there is a welcome pack comprising of fresh coffee, teas, hot chocolates and other items. A half pint of milk you will find in the fridge. You will find the kitchen is extremely well kitted out. As a keen cook myself I often use the cottage myself, so wanted to make sure a good wide range of items are available. I've even had guest cooking their own Christmas dinner.
Conditions
Unfortunately Hill Cottage is strictly no smoking and I'm really sorry but no pets. When booking the cottage I require £100 booking deposit and a further £100 security deposit. This security deposit is returned or reimbursed after your stay, but is obviously used in case of accidental damages. Full payment for the rental of the cottage must be paid before the start date of your stay. Details about how to enter the cottage will then be given.

The Lavenham area
Please log on to www.discoverlavenham.co.uk for more details on Lavenham
Lavenham is one of England’s finest medieval villages with over 300 listed buildings. This is an incredible village created some 750 years ago by Henry III. Traders flocked to the village to take advantage of it’s thriving wool trade, and by 1524 Lavenham was ranked the 14th richest town in the country thanks to it’s famous Lavenham Blues Cloth. It’s not clear why Lavenham became such a wealthy town but we do know that it’s past residents have left a unique legacy in the shape of the stunning timber-framed houses that they built to show off their wealth. There are landmark buildings such as the Guildhall in the centre and the opulent St Peter and St Paul Church, as well as Lavenham Priory which was built during this boom.

We were delighted with Hill Cottage: a lovely house, beautifully refurbished and amazingly well-equipped. It's warm and comfortable and Olly, the very helpful and friendly owner, has thought of everything: fantastic kitchen (the best we have seen in the many cottages that we have stayed in, a real pleasure to cook in), Apple Mac for your use plus free Wi-Fi, TVs in kitchen, bedroom and lounge (which also has DVD and surround sound), and iPod dock/radio; very comfortable sofas and beds. The decor, lighting and overall feel are tasteful and relaxing and the garden is lovely. The location, just 2 minutes' walk from the market square, is ideal. |
