The Lauterbrunnen Valley, regarded as one of the most spectacular glacial valleys in Europe, lies surrounded by the unspoilt natural beauty of the magnificent Swiss Alps. Lauterbrunnen's most famous feature, the cascading 300 metre high Staubbach waterfall, becomes even more impressive when illuminated at night. Lauterbrunnen is a valley famous for its waterfalls, giving good access to the whole mountain area below the Eiger, Jungfrau and Monch. Your rail pass will take you to places such as Wengen, Grindelwald, Murren, Interlaken and Kleine Scheidegg.

Skiing with a view on the Eiger (3970m.), Mönch (4099m.) and the Jungfrau (4158m.) The Jungfrau Region is the heart of skiing in the Bernese Oberland, and its trio of resorts – Wengen (1274m), Mürren (1650m) and Grindelwald (1034m) – have long been a favourite of the British. They still offer some of the best skiing to be had in the Alps. The three areas are linked in the Jungfrau Top Ski Region, with a single pass covering the whole vast spread (2 days Fr.105, 7 days Fr.267), or individual passes valid for each area (1 day Fr.52, 2 days Fr.95). All the resorts have schools offering both daily classes and private lessons in skiing, snowboarding and other, wackier techniques for all proficiencies; class lessons tend to cost from around Fr. 55 for three hours. All of them also lay on various diversions for skiers taking a break, including curling, ice-skating, sledging and adventure activities such as tandem paragliding

The Jungfrau region,a compact area in the heart of the bernese oberland.the region stretches a mere 18 km from the lovely city Interlaken to the Jungfrau massif,its snow-clad queen.The first is the scenery, so spectacular wiews. The junfrau region boast numerous mountain lakes,rivers,streams,cascading waterfalls,glaciers and peaks. It has a UNESCO world heritage site-the first in the Alps and includes the Aletsch glacier ,at 22 km,the longest in the Alpes .It boast Europe highest altitude railway station 3454 m at the Jungfraujoch top of Europe and the Schilthorn 2970 m with its revolving piz gloria restaurant,the setting for the James Bond movie -On Her Majesty`s Secret Service

Lauterbrunnen area

The Lauterbrunnen Valley is surrounded by the unspoilt natural beauty of the magnificent Swiss Alps including the Eiger mountain. Lauterbrunnen's cascading 300 metre high Staubbach waterfall, viewed from all bedrooms, becomes even more impressive when illuminated at night. The famous Trummelbach falls inside the Jungfrau are a short walk away. An easy 30 minutes' walk along the valley brings you to Stechelberg with access to superb mountain walking. 10 minutes walk in the other direction are the main shops, restaurants, banks and post office. Interlaken is about 15 minutes drive or train ride away with its wide variety of shops and lake pursuits. Lauterbrunnen is a great base to explore the Jungfrau Ski Region. There are 45 mountain trains, cable cars, chair and ski lifts, with 210km of pistes for skiers, 100km of winter hiking and cross-country tracks, and 50km of sledge runs.

Our apartment is located on the first floor so not really suitable for wheelchairs. We have 4 sledges available during the winter as sledding is very popular in Lauterbrunnen.

You are welcomed by our english speaking key keeper. Who will give you all the information about the area that you would like to know. Whe will also require a Sfr 300,00 deposit on the day of arrival, which she will return when everything is in good order when you leave.
