The Cornwall region
Whether you're looking for an active holiday, a retreat for doing nothing or something in between Cornwall can fit all the bills. Take advantage of the richly diverse landscape and heritage that Cornwall offers as well as visiting the attractions for all ages.
Cornwall is a wonderful holiday area. The Atlantic Heritage Coast of Cornwall has magnificent cliffs with tiny coves waiting to be explored and bays with charming and interesting fishing villages such as Padstow, Port Isaac and Boscastle. Inland, the Cornwall countryside is rolling and varied, with woods, moors, lakes and farmland. There are many picturesque villages and market towns.
20 minutes drive to the North Cornish coast at Crackington Haven. In less than 25 minutes you can be enjoying the delights of Widemouth Bay, Bude, Tintagel, Boscastle or Trebarwith Strand. Wonderful Beaches to enjoy and stunning Cliffs for coast walks. We provide maps, walk and cycle books for the area.
Trethorne Leisure Park is the biggest undercover attraction in North Cornwall and less than 5 minutes away. It has an indoor play area including a scary drop slide and a wavy slide, in addition to an outdoor play area. There are a variety of animals, some of which children can feed, including ponies and a shire horse. Trethorne also offers an excellent indoor bowling facility, and an 18-hole golf course, but that's really more for the adults.
Hidden Valley Discovery Park is another local adventure. Described as the most mysterious adventure in Cornwall, it's attractions include children's play areas, cafe and shop.
Launceston Steam Railway is always popular with kids. Only ten minutes drive, the railway is open off season, but a good idea to check the times of the trains before you plan to take a ride.
Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre is in nearby North Petherwin. Set in 21 acres the woddlands and lakes are home to Otters and also various types of deer, owls, peacocks, Scottish wildcats and waterfowl.
Tintagel Castle is a magical day out with its wonderful location, set high on the rugged clifftop. It offers striking views and captivating ruins and a yummy beach café.
Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park boasts a day of thrills and spills galore.
Springfields Fun Park & Pony Centre. A selection of the many activities available are rowing your boats, driving go-karts, exploring the pirate ship, train riding around the park, riding in a horse and carriage, watching the duck racing and the pony show. There are also indoor and outdoor kids play areas.
Trethorne Golf Club is 2.5 miles away.
The golf course at Trethorne Golf Club creates a unique challenge that will not only present a significant test for the single figure player, but also prove an enjoyable experience for the 20 plus handicapper, without losing too many Pro V1's!
The 18 holes are set in a spectacular parkland setting with far reaching views of the rolling Cornish countryside and distant views of rural Cornwall. The course has been extended in length over the past few years, and now measures a challenging 6375 yards off the championship tees.
Launceston Golf Club is 7 miles away.
Launceston Golf Club is a friendly members club and a great venue for a days golf in Cornwall. The elevated levels of Launceston Golf Club offer spectacular countryside views over both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, with majestic views of our historic town and castle.
Special Interest Holidays
The craft persons heaven that is Cowslips workshop is only a few miles from Gospenheale Barn. A place for great craft workshops and exhibitions. We are also good friends with local water colour artist, Mark Gibbons, who is willing to offer individual tuition for anyone learning to paint.

"Excellent accommodation for exploring Cornwall."
We were once again pleased to be staying at Gospenheale. The barn has everything you could ask for to make it feel like a home from home and is extremely comfortable and well equipped. Everything is immaculately clean and David and Bridget are so welcoming. When you arrive Bridget provides homemade scones accompanied with clotted cream and locally made jam Yum! The cottage is ideally located with the A30 being only a couple of minutes away. The local maps and places of interest supplied in the cottage was extremely useful and made for easy exploring. We also enjoyed just sitting in the pretty garden relaxing or throwing the frisbee for Bob the dog. We were particularly impressed with our visits to Boscastle, lovely walks around the headland at Polzeath and scenic views while having a beer at Trebarwith Strand. We had some gorgeous food both locally at The Rising Sun, Altarnun and one of Rick Steins restaurants in Padstow. With its central location it was also easy visiting the south Cornish coast around Polperro and Polruan. We really enjoyed our holiday and were fortunate to be staying in a lovely part of the world when the weather was so good.
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and found some great places to visit. We (including Bob the Dog ) will look forward to your return visit!

"Home from home"
After almost 30 years of experiencing self catering at it's best (and worst), we can thoroughly recommend Gospenheale for the warmth of the welcome, the quality of the Barn, the surroundings and most of all, for Bob the Border Collie! The welcome was evident the moment we arrived, everything we needed to know was explained to us, and the information packs were excellent. The Cornish Cream tea was extremely welcome after an 8 hour drive and served to put us all in the right frame of mind for the rest of our holiday. David and Bridget were the perfect hosts, and encouraged us to make the most of the Barn whilst we were there. Every eventuality seemed to be catered for, from barbecue, swingball and "outside games" for those wanting to spend more time outdoors, to board games, DVD's and books for those who wanted to spend more time inside. We particularly noticed the tremendous efforts they have made to ensure that the environmental impact of the barn is reduced as far as possible - with extensive recycling facilities being made available. So much care and attention has been taken to ensure that anyone who stays here will have a lasting memory of their time in Cornwall, that it would be impossible not to return and experience it all again! Thank you David and Bridget for a memorable holiday - we will return!

"Gospenheale is a beautiful barn conversion - it's exceptional."
We experienced a really warm welcome when we arrived at this beautifully equipped cottage. It was so comfortable and had everything we needed. Bridget's baking was a lovely extra. I would recommend this to anyone who loves being in comfort in the country.

"Fantastic place, best self catering holiday home ever"
We have stayed here on 3 separate occasions now, David and Bridgette are so friendly they make you feel like part of the family. They are very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. You get the added bonus of some home made scones upon arrival, made by Bridgette and are a very welcome addition. Milk in the fridge so you don't have to rush out to get any. We will be attending again as its the best equipped place we have ever found. Its great for families or couples we had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday break this May so relaxing.

"BEST Barn Conversion in the UK!!"
Gospenheale Barn is the best equipped, most immaculate accommodation we have E-V-E-R stayed in (and we travel a lot – and stay in self-catering accommodation 3 or 4 times per year). The Barn conversion is very well thought out and caringly crafted. From the way the original structure was incorporated into the conversion – to the reclaimed wood floors – to the use of local artwork and handcrafted glass – the Barn is quality throughout. Gospenheale is so very warm and welcoming we hated to leave for our day trips. The Pretts are excellent inn keepers – always friendly and helpful – and able to answer all our questions about Cornwall. The Ordinance Maps provided for use while staying at Gospenheale ensured we didn’t get lost on our explorations. We loved Bobby (the dog) who greeted us happily, with tail wagging, whenever we arrived back “home”! We learned so much about dairy farming, the local economy and Cornish lifestyle from our hosts. Launceston (and Pipers Pool) is a perfect location from which to make day trips to the many picturesque Cornish coastal villages and informative historic sites. We have such wonderful memories of the week we spent at Gospenheale Barn. We will be back to Cornwall and to Gospenheale Barn!!

"You could not want for more - fantastic cottage!"
This converted barn contains everything you could possibly want to make your stay special. It has been tastefully converted without losing the original feel of the place. David and Bridget are exceptionally welcoming and available if you should need them. While the weather was not the best during our stay, we absolutely loved the house and would recommend Gospenheale Barn without hesitation. It is also well located - private and peaceful but only a few minutes from a large town.
