The Aquitaine region stretches from the Gironde river to the north with the beautiful city of Bordeaux and all its world-renowned vineyards, all the way down to the Pyrénées and the Spanish border to the south. This 200-km long stretch of coast boasts some fantastic wide sandy beaches, backed by sand dunes and as well as the largest forest in Western Europe (la forêt des Landes). Along this coast known as the Côte d’Argent (the Silver coast), you will find some much sought-after seaside resorts such as Arcachon, Cap Ferret, Biarritz and St Jean de Luz to name just a few.
Latresne area
The village of Latresne is situated just 10 km south east of the centre of Bordeaux, but in a calm woody area not far from the Gironde river. 3 hours by train from Paris, 2 hours by car to Spain, 1 hour to the ocean (Dune de Pilat) and 1 hour from Dordogne. Latresne is close to the long bike track from Bordeaux to Bergerac with the wine producing châteaux of St Emilion and Pommerol. Bordeaux is a magnificent old town and the home of good food. Environment : In the heart of the countryside, with the bells of the village church on one side and a view of the forest on the other. No disturbances or traffic noise.
