The Paphos District
Paphos, a picturesque half-hour drive, combines ancient history with a cosmopolitan, modern tourist resort. The area by the coast is known as Kato Paphos and boasts a pretty little harbour with a medieval castle and plenty of open air cafes bars.
It has abundant night-life and restaurants, amusement and water parks and plenty cultural attractions.
In Greco-Roman times Paphos was the island's capital, and it is famous for the remains of the Roman Governor's palace, where extensive, fine mosaics are a major tourist attraction.
There are numerous archaeological sites to visit such as the Tombs of the Kings the Medieval castle and the Christian catacombs. The Apostole Paul of Tarsus visited the town during the first century. The town of Paphos is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. Further inland is the old town of Paphos, known by the locals as Ktima. With its narrow streets, hustle and bustle, covered market and typically Cypriot atmosphere, it is well worth a visit.
Paphos is the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.Legend says that she emerged from the sea at Aphrodite’s Rock in a surge of sea foam.
The Baths of Aphrodite where it is believed she came to bathe are a quiet and tranquil place to visit, just a few minutes drive from the villa.
If you are feeling more adventurous you can use your 4X4 to explore the Troodos Mountains or the nearby Akamas Peninsula and take in the scenery and aromas of Cedar Valley.
Latchi / Arsinoe Beach area
The pretty picturesque village of Latchi and its fishing harbour are a ten-minute walk along the beach where you will find renowned local fish restaurants and tavernas. There is a small but ample selection of shops , bank and bars giving you everything you need for a relaxing holiday without loosing any of its local charm. Polis Chrysochous is about 5 km away . It’s a small picturesque town which has managed to keep its original character despite it being a popular attractive resort. It offers a fantastic range of restaurants and local tavernas arranged around the pretty cental square.
A holiday villa in the Polis / Latchi area is the ideal choice of accommodation in Paphos for anyone seeking to have an authentic experience of the region and to unwind in the spectacular sun-drenched landscapes surrounded by unspoilt rural villages.
Holiday villas in the Polis / Latchi area will appeal to any nature-loving family as it is a destination surrounded by vineyards, citrus orchards and olive groves spread out in the wake of the magnificent Troodos Mountains that form a stunning backdrop to the Polis / Latchi area .
There are plenty opportunities for recreation and relaxation so whether you are in search of a romantic break in the sunshine of Pafos or family orientated outdoor fun, holiday villas in the Polis - Latchi area are the ideal choice as this area will cater for all your requirements. Activities such as walking, cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horse riding, swimming, water skiing and wind-surfing can all be enjoyed by the whole family in the beautiful countryside and from the blissful beaches that are easily accessible.
One can explore the Akamas Peninsula. Chosen by Aphrodite for meetings with her lover Adonis. This truly beautiful and vast National Park is teeming with all kinds of flora and fauna, including rare endemic flowers. Scenery varies from the challenging, such as Avakas Gorge, with its sheer cliffs, to the tranquil, including the beaches at Lara Bay (one of the last Mediterranean breeding grounds of the green turtle) and Fontana Amorosa Bay. Akamas is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. The landscape is truly amazing
Latchi offers some of the best scuba diving in Cyprus, with the sea sheltered from the prevailing winds. There is a PADI diving school in the nearby Latsi harbour and a water sports centre in the village where boats windsurfers and jet skis are available for hire.
The Troodos Mountains. At the height of summer these mountains can provide an escape from the heat and in the winter it is an excellent skiing centre. There are plenty of hiking trails, richly decorated Byzantine churches, picturesque villages, and acres of oak, maple and pine forests.

Guestbook for Arsinoe Beach Sunset Villa
A villa on the beach! Sunshine, warmth, sea almost at your feet, tavernas a short walk for your feet! A seaview at breakfast, lunch and dinner. What more could you want from an autumn break?
The villa was so pleasant to stay in. Well equipped and comfortable, we had all we needed. Our politeful and helpful host owner contacted us a few times to check we had all we needed and with some tips on where to go or eat. Some local knowledge is always good. If we had had an unexpected problem we felt confident he would have come to our aid...but all went well for us. We relaxed and recharged and although we had a jeep had no real desire to venture far, although we did try a trip down the Akamus Peninsula on the literally rocky road to the blue lagoon and a drive up into the poetically blue Troodos mountains. This was a nice contrast to the dry landscape of the coast where the sun had drained the moisture over the long summer. The scenery reminded me more of pictures I had seen of the middle east than the greek islands which we were accustomed to visiting. The dryness usually comes as a culture shock to me as we live in such a lush and verdant river valley in greenest rural Wales. But this is hardly surprising when you consider that the island is opposite Beirut and Syria and were it not that bit further south it would not have had the extra warmth that we wanted so much as a tonic to the cool and damp british climate. To enjoy a swim in the sea every day in October was bliss. In the early morning the sea was like a mill pond, silky with an almost oily sheen and at times almost deserted of other holidaymakers. To walk from the villa to the beach in thirty seconds then to return for a coffee or lunch was an undeniable pleasure.
Latchi was unspolit with a marina and not beseiged by the usual commercial sprawl of hotels and clubs. It had an authentic cypriot/greek style and thankfully there were no Mac Donalds, KFC's, Starbucks or other "mass" retail suppliers. That is how we like it!
We look forward to another autumn return or possibly a spring break as I am told that then the island bursts with colour and fragrance. We returned home to the beatutiful usk valley in Wales content to embrace fiery autumn with a store of sunshine and rest to fuel us for the coming winter. It was just so perfect from the moment we arrived: the thoughtful sprigs of lavender on the soft pillows and towels and the beautiful weather. My lasting memory is of sitting on the terrace, enveloped by warmth , watching the stars. The only sounds to be heard were the breaking of the waves on the beach occasionally interrupted by the chink of wine glasses! Michael&Judy Thompson, United Kingdom 21/09/2009-06/10/2009
I have recently returned from a week of blissful relaxation at Arsinoe Sunset Villa. From our initial contact with the owner until our departure we were met with kindness and thoughtfulness. Esmeralda was gracious and helpful with any queries. Sunset Villa was clean and spacious. Everything we could have needed was there. The garden is beautifully set out and the beach is just across a footpath at the bottom of the garden. We went in September. I found it still hot there at daytime, but this is easily remedied with the sea less than a minute's walk away. Latchi was quiet but far from dead. Often there were only a few others on the expansive beach. Take the owner's recommendations on local restaurants: local cuisine and fish mezes were superb. Latchi and Polis are not for shopaholics. You can find what you need but it is not awash with tourist tackiness. This is a place for relaxation, eating, swimming and sunbathing. It may not delight the dedicated snorkeller: underwater life was not abundant, but the beach is safe and the waves are fun without being frightening! Fall asleep to the sound of the sea. At night let the sun-loungers be star-loungers: there is little light pollution in this area. Watch the meteorites cross the sky ... We could have managed a week without a car. For two weeks you may want to explore further afield and a car would be useful. I was immensely touched by the owner's kindness. Esmeralda ensured our welcome and comfort. She advised well on what to bring and where to go. This is a special place. I recommend it without reservation. Christina McClements, Derry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom 13/09/2009-20/09/2009
We arrived to the bungalow after a long exhausting day in Trodus Mountains. We decided to take the bungalow just from looking at the picture in the internet without any recommendation. The fear from the unknown about what is waiting behind the door was big, Moments of suspense were passing in our mind during trying to open the key box. But after the door was open we couldn't imagine for something better. The pleasant design, the thought on the small thing even the laundry powder the milk in the fridge the wine and the ouzo and above all the owner willingness for all our wishes, and most of all, the sound of the see wave in the background gave us a huge taste for more. It is ideal for a total relaxation holiday, located on a lovely beach (blue flag) in Latchi, couldn't have asked for a better holiday. It is ideal for families. Totally relaxing experience of having the beach at your doorstep (private garden with shower and sunbeds). Everything provided for in the villa. Very quiet and peaceful place near good restaurant (5 min) and mini-markets/restaurants in Latchi village (10 min). In Latchi harbour you can rent a motorboat, water skis and... :-)) Great!!!
