The Loire Valley region
The beautiful town of Lassay les Châteaux is about 10km and should not be missed with its Medieval Château and beautiful Rose Garden. If you enjoy people watching nothing could be better than sitting in a roadside café at the lovely Bangnoles de l'Orne again about 10km away.
Further afield the Normandy Landing Beaches and the Châteaux of the Loire are within easy day trip distance, as is a trip on a TGV from Le Mans to Paris.
A 30 minute drive away is the medieval town of Sille-le-Guillaume where there is a lake with beach. A 90 minute drive gets you to the Normandy Landing beaches. Slightly further - about two hours drive - the North Brittany or Vendee coasts are good for a day trip. The World famous Mont St Michel - 2nd most visited tourist attraction in France after the Eiffel Tower - is about 90 minutes away by car.
