The Canary Islands region

Without a doubt Tenerife's biggest attraction is the majestic and powerful sight of Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain. A dormant volcanoe from which at it's summit of 3,718metres you can see the entire coast line of the archipelago. The national park of Teide is a truly a wondeful day out covering pine forests, to petrified earth and lanscapes that could have been as it was in the the begining of time.

Then we have Loro Parque which houses the largest collection of Parrots in the world, and has been a big and succseful contibution to breeding near extinct birds. It also has exotic animals chimps, Gorrilas, flamingos, giant tortoise, white tigers, lions, penguins, sea lions and Orca whales. This is not a zoo, far from it. The owner is a naturalist, and commisioned the park in 1992, all the animals are as near to their own habitation as it is possible to be and are very well cared for. He also has recently completed the biggest water park in the world, Sian Park, which has an oriental flavour, and water slides galore, even a giant wave pool.

Water sports like sking, paragliding, surfing, boat trips to see the whales and dolphins can be sought all along the coast line. The white sandy beaches (sand imported from the Sarah Desert) are safe for children and are cleaned reguarly, with sun beds, showers, public toilets and life guards.

Tenerife has also another side to it, away from the beaches you have some of the most spectacular sights in the world. You can travel into the Mercedes mountains and drive along mountain roads through forests, over a mountain ridge dividing the west and east coast, into the clouds and remote villages, dip down to the coast for tapas, be warned there is no English spoken here, but you can get by, the people are very friendly. Masca has been built on the deepest ravine in Tenerife, and was only surpassable by donkey up until about 10 years ago. Masca is truly a breath taking sight, the views from the top are mindblowing. There are organised walks into the ravine down to the coast where you catch a boat back to Los Cristianos.

Tenerife is truly the place to be for sunshine and enjoyment, whatever you are looking for Tenerife has it all.

Las Galletas

Las Galletas is only a short distance away. The harbour has recently been renovated to a high standard, and makes a wonderful walk to see all the fishing boats coming and going, swimmers in the harbour and bathing on the beach, wondeful tropical fish diplaying their irridesance along the harbour wall.

On a Saturday/Sunday morning all the fishermen sell their catch to the locals from cabins along the beach front, a site not often seen these days.

Although very cosmopolitan Las Galletas still has it's old charm of the sea side town, and Tapas bars are everywhere, selling the local cuisine, and very nice they are to.

Also the town is very proud to be one of the best for it's display of fireworks, and people come from all around the Island to watch them and join in with the Fiesta day and nights. Arts and craft fairs, local wine and cheese, local forna, Canarian folk dancing festivals are all held in Las Galletas, and the atmosphere should not be missed. All the activities and Fiestas are published in the local papers well in advance.

"Casa La Mancha"

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Tenerife staying at this beautiful villa. Our party consisted of 4 people (me, hubby, son and his girlfriend). The villa is a real credit to its owners, Jacky and Ken. It is spotlessly clean, well maintained and very tastefully furnished. During our 10 day stay, the pool was cleaned twice and the towels and bed linen changed once which we considered to be enough. Everything we needed during our stay was available and we particularly enjoyed using the BBQ after either a lazy day by the pool or a day out. The pool was perfect (must admit we paid to have it heated)! The villa is in a quiet area but the town nearby is within walking distance. If you wish to travel further afield, a car is essential. Los Cristianos is only a 10-15 minute drive away and the beach there is beautiful. Another must is Loro Parque which is in the north of the island but despite being about an 1.5 hour drive away, it is well worth the trip (particularly if you like animals)! There are two restaurants not far from the villa - La Romeria and Ramons. Both are quite nice (La Romeria being the more expensive of the two). However, if you drive into Los Cristianos, we can thoroughly recommend The Watermelon where we had a really lovely meal. We would definitely recommend Casa La Mancha to friends and family and you never know, if Jacky and Ken will have us back, we may return there one day.

"Absolutely Magic"

We spent 21st December - 4th January 2013 at this villa. Our first impressions were as to how clean Casa La Mancha was. The whole place was sparkling. It was roomy, very comfortable and felt straight away like home. There was a change of bedding, towels and plenty of pool towels. The gardens and pool area were also immaculate, as were the Barbecue and covered area. The area around the property is quite rural. With just a 15min walk to the local beach. A car is a must. As is a trip up Teide. Our daughter, husband and son made the climb from the road to the cable car top. Took just over 41/2 hours. The photos are amazing.Unfortunately never managed to get to the summit as you need to apply for a permit on line. The waiting was 8/9 days. So if you are interested you really need to book before leaving the UK. The permit is free. Our party our selves, daughter, husband and two grandchildren ( 11 & 14yrs) from the UK Our son and partner from Sweden. We throughly recommend this villa and at some stage we will certainly return Thanks to our hosts Jacky Ken & Laura

"A Beautiful Oasis waiting to be explored."

Casa La Mancha villa will take your breath away!!! It is a beautiful oasis that I would highly recommend a visit to. It was the perfect place for my family and me to spend time together. It was like stepping into paradise. The villa inside was immaculate and spacious. Simply beautiful. The outdoor area was great for spending time around the pool, relaxing and enjoying meals together el fresco at the Mandalay Bar area. The outside gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The villa has all the ammenities needed for the perfect holiday. I would recommend renting a car, but it is only about a 15 minute walk from the villa to Las Galletas and beach-Great place for restaurants, bars and sites-and reasonably cheap. The brochures you had available, along with the book on Tenerife for sites to see and things to do was an added bonus. You truly thought of everything!!! The villa has private parking and is gated. Totally secure and safe for the added piece of mind while on holiday. Jacky and Ken are very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Both providing information on local sites and must sees. Thank you both for sharing your villa with us, and for helping to make this family vacation/reunion extra special, the birthday celebration especially. Birthday cake~delish! Jacky you truly went the extra mile in helping me plan this special vacation-Both you and Ken went above and beyond. I truly appreciate everything you did ,and yes you both were just a call away. My husband and I truly enjoyed our time at Casa La Mancha and it was very hard to leave but we will be back again. We haven't stopped telling our friends about the villa and we have highly recommended it to all of our friends. Jacky and Ken Thank you again for allowing us to share in your paradise...Casa La Mancha, and for being a special part of our memories. Thank you L&M Walsh~Toronto, Canada
