The Tenerife region

Without a doubt Tenerife's biggest attraction is the majestic and powerful sight of Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain. A dormant volcanoe from which at it's summit of 3,718metres you can see the entire coast line of the archipelago. The national park of Teide is a truly a wondeful day out covering pine forests, to petrified earth and lanscapes that could have been as it was in the the begining of time.
Then we have Loro Parque which houses the largest collection of Parrots in the world, and has been a big and succseful contibution to breeding near extinct birds. It also has exotic animals chimps, Gorrilas, flamingos, giant tortoise, white tigers, lions, penguins, sea lions and Orca whales. This is not a zoo, far from it. The owner is a naturalist, and commisioned the park in 1992, all the animals are as near to their own habitation as it is possible to be and are very well cared for. He also has recently completed the biggest water park in the world, Sian Park, which has an oriental flavour, and water slides galore, even a giant wave pool.
Water sports like sking, paragliding, surfing, boat trips to see the whales and dolphins can be sought all along the coast line. The white sandy beaches (sand imported from the Sarah Desert) are safe for children and are cleaned reguarly, with sun beds, showers, public toilets and life guards.
Tenerife has also another side to it, away from the beaches you have some of the most spectacular sights in the world. You can travel into the Mercedes mountains and drive along mountain roads through forests, over a mountain ridge dividing the west and east coast, into the clouds and remote villages, dip down to the coast for tapas, be warned there is no English spoken here, but you can get by, the people are very friendly. Masca has been built on the deepest ravine in Tenerife, and was only surpassable by donkey up until about 10 years ago. Masca is truly a breath taking sight, the views from the top are mindblowing. There are organised walks into the ravine down to the coast where you catch a boat back to Los Cristianos.
Tenerife is truly the place to be for sunshine and enjoyment, whatever you are looking for Tenerife has it all.
The Las Galletas / La Estrella Del Sur area
Las Galletas is only a short distance away. The harbour has recently been renovated to a high standard, and makes a wonderful walk to see all the fishing boats coming and going, swimmers in the harbour and bathing on the beach, wondeful tropical fish diplaying their irridesance along the harbour wall.
On a Saturday/Sunday morning all the fishermen sell their catch to the locals from cabins along the beach front, a site not often seen these days.
Although very cosmopolitan Las Galletas still has it's old charm of the sea side town, and Tapas bars are everywhere, selling the local cuisine, and very nice they are to.
Also the town is very proud to be one of the best for it's display of fireworks, and people come from all around the Island to watch them and join in with the Fiesta day and nights. Arts and craft fairs, local wine and cheese, local forna, Canarian folk dancing festivals are all held in Las Galletas, and the atmosphere should not be missed. All the activities and Fiestas are published in the local papers well in advance.

LIVING THE DREAM

Review Submitted: July 27, 2011Date of Stay: July 2011
This was exactly as we imagined it to be. Totally perfect, we could not of wished for better. The villa is clean, in fact imaculate inside and out. The furnishings are very high quality throughout and there is nothing more we would have wanted. It's maintained to a very high standard. The decor throughout is beautiful......simpy put, this was us living the dream for two glorious weeks. The veranda outside leading off from the living room is perfect for relaxing in the afternoon sun or simply taking a break, if you want to, from the hot sun during the day.
The outside has gardens that are kept imaculate with beautiful plants, flowers and trees. The Mandalay is exactly as you picture it. It's a perfect area to chill out relaxing with a drink or 2 and there is even a music system behind the bar. The heated pool is a nice size and the water temperature is perfect. The lights within it illuminate it at night making for a perfect setting for a night time dip, which we took full advantage of. The villa has a wonderful view of Teide itself right to the peak which you can clearly see.
The pictures do not do this beautiful home full justice, you have to experience it to believe it. We will certainly be returning again as we have found a piece of paradise in Tenerife.
You do need a car to get out and about, well we recomend you do, but if you choose not to the villa itself will keep you entertained. There is a few bars and restaurants you can walk to nearby and they are nice with friendly locals. If you do choose to hire a car, everything is within an easy drive including the spectacular drive to the top of Teide.
We cannot recomend this lovely villa enough and Ken & Jacky make for the perfect hosts, they are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them, they really make you feel truly welcome.
Ken & Jacky, thank you so much for the wonderful time we had in your superb home, yes we are coming back next year for sure.

This villa was absolutely amazing for a winter break! The villa and gardens are finished to a very high standard. The location is not far from the busy areas and is easily accessible with the use of Kenny ( a driver that Jacky and Ken have hired) whose rates were very fair. The pool was of a good size and was occupied every day even when it was raining. The size of the villa and surrounding walled gardens were extremely spacious for the four of us and could easily accomodate the full capacity of eight adults. We were due to hire a car and tour around the area, however once inside the villa and gardens we were so relaxed and only felt the need to venture out on a few occassions after a trip to the supermarket to purchase a weeks worth of provisions. Sitting by the manalay bar the view was stunning, looking onto Teide mountain whose peak was covered in snow.
I would definately recommend a visit to the local pizza/pasta restaurant. It may not look like anything special but the food was very tasty, good sized portions and the service was excellent.
Jacky and Ken were most helpful and we would like to thank them again for all their help and advice. Also a mention for Kenny who was very friendly, helpful and a real gem.
We will definately book again and look forward to the ideal place for rest and relaxation.

The photos of this villa don't do it justice - when you arrive and see how beautiful it is you'll be surprised at how big it feels. The whole property exceeds your expectations in terms of how beautiful it is, the facilities it offers and how comfortable we were for the week we spent there. The location is excellent if you want to visit various areas throughout the south if you have a car but it is very quiet - no traffic and no noisy people around! The bedrooms are huge and very modern. The kitchen has everything you need and even things you don't think you would need. We BBQ'd mostly and it was great being able to eat outside in the beautiful mandalay house - very luxurious and again, not something that the photos really catch the best side of. We're already thinking of booking to come back with family again next year; I'd recommend this property to pretty much anyone, especially if you just want to relax and compared to other similar properties, the price was great too.

Property was everything you could ask for and was a joy even with the inclement weather we had in the first week. Jacky and Ken were a phone call away to help out but otherwise left us alone.
Pool was great when the weather improved and the kids (both under four) loved it.
Can't see how the Villa works without a car but with one the whole island is accesible and Loro Parque is definitiely worth a trip.

We enjoyed a fantastic 2 week holiday in the most beautiful stunning villa, the accommodation was first class, of a very high standard, Very Clean,Bright, loads of room, furnished to a very high standard designed to make you feel at home as soon as you arrive, the gardens are fully enclosed without obstructing the views of the mountain region and Teide, The pool & BBQ area are very spacious but the Star of the garden has to be Mandaly purely for your enjoyment and sheer endulgence relax, have a long cold drink in the shade totter a few steps and sink into the pool absolute bliss.

Thank you Jacky and Ken. Our 3 week holiday in your wonderful villa, was just perfect. The area is absolutely superb for our preference of a quiet holiday location. Within easy reach of the town Las Galletas and Palm Mar we couldn't have wanted more. The villa is fabulous, spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. In fact we were having such a wonderful time we only ventured out 3 times for meals and preferred to eat at the villa, making good use of the BBQ.
The internet access was a bonus for us too.
We are sorting our dates for next year and will be in touch very soon.
Thank you again. Mike and Mel - Rutland/France.

We were so impressed by the very high standard of accommodation and attention to detail. The villa and gardens were spacious and immaculate. The kids (aged 6-9) loved the pool. It was just the right size. The variety of seating area was a plus and we loved the ouside bar 'Manderlay' and bbq with fabulous views of the mountains. We also fell in love with Pepe's pizzas - a delicous treat just up the road. Jacky and Ken really looked after us and little touches like having Sky helped us all have a very relaxing stay. You would have to try hard to beat this villa!

The villa is lovely, really spacious and very nicely done out. The outside areas are also lovely and we spent a lot of time by the pool enjoying the gorgeous mountain view as well as the lovely garden.
We hired a car for our holiday and would recommend doing the same. Los Cristianos is only a short drive away and spent a lot of time there or at the villa. There isn't really much in walking distance of the villa but there are plenty of shops and supermarkets a short drive away.
Jackie and Ken were very helpful during our stay and they did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed.
We don't often return to the same holiday places but we had a really lovely time and might make an exception for this place :)

Details on the website were spot on regarding all aspects of the villa, location and information. We were not disappointed!
Ken met us on arrival and showed us all around the villa, inside and out, which was immaculate throughout. I can vouch that the pictures online are replicated 'in the flesh'! Ken advised on everthing we needed to know and left his mobile number in case of any problems, or questions and responded very quickly on the couple of occasions we called. If there was one thing I could have added it would have been an outside dining table and chairs, but that's just my preference.
On departure day we were able to leave our luggage at the villa for the day [late flight home] and both Ken and Jacky were there to let us in to collect it late afternoon - thank you, that was most appreciated.
Although there were 7 adults in our party there was plenty of room for all us, both inside and out. The worst thing that happened was that the dishwasher broke down, but we had washing-up liquid:-) ate with fingers off the BBQ and used serviettes!
I would definitely recommend Casa la Mancha to anyone who wants a very comfortable holiday away from the hustle and bustle of tourist resorts. We found Las Galletas to be a lovely friendly fishing port, waiters around the cafe's/bars at the harbour were most hospitable, as they were at La Romeria restaurant. Siam Park was a huge success and worth the 30 Euros entrance. Although not cheap at 41 Euros the boat trip from the harbour in Las Galletas [Muscat] was really good - even though the sea was too choppy to stop for snorkelling we saw plenty of pilot whales and a few dolphins.
All in all we had a brilliant stay, and if I go back to Tenerife I don't think I would want to stay anywhere else.
This review is only a notch off of an excellent rating from me, as I always think we can all improve on what we do, no reflection of the standard, facilities, maintenance and personal attention both Ken and Jacky offer.
Thanks again for a great week.

This villa was absolutely perfect. Very clean, spacious and a superb location. It had every amenity you could want. It was our second visit, and was every bit as good as the first. The owners keep the villa in tip top condition. Any problems are sorted within a couple of hours. 15 minute drive to airport made the location very easy to find and convenient for shops and beaches. I can honestly say that we would have no hesitation to recommend this villa, or make another visit ourselves.
Jacky and Ken are the perfect hosts.

Many thanks for letting us stay in your lovley villa, it was everything we need for a trouble free week away from home, The kitchen was like home from home with everything in it from boiling an egg to cooking a roast dinner. The villa was furnished to a high standard and very clean throughout, the tv and sky was ideal for a lazy night in, with a takeaway pizza from pepa-ya-pepe, (worth a vist and try his speciality chips) the bedroom was very niceley decorated and the balcony overlooking the pool was very nice to wake up to, the outside bar area was nice for a relaxing evening with a glass of wine or two(3,4,5) the pool with its heating was used all the time, I would recomend this villa to anybody who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist trap holidays, Very quiet and relaxing, The locals were very friendly, and we met some friends of Ken and Jacky who were lovley and nothing was to much trouble to tell us about the best places to eat and were best to go, The short walk in to las-galletas was very nice, the bars and restaurants along the front are both cheap and friendley, I would definetley book this villa again, It was a pleasure to met Ken and hopefully look forward to meeting Jacky next time, once again many thanks for your hospitality.

This villa was exactly as Jacky described it. Jacky & Ken welcomed us when we arrived and showed us all the bits we needed to know. The villa was absolutely immaculate when we arrived.
There were 8 of us (4 adults & 4 teenagers) and we had plenty of space. One of the reasons we picked this villa was because of the pool and we weren't disappointed. It was heated and plenty big for the 8 of us. We spent a lot of time in it.
The villa is very much on the outskirts of the town, which means you definitely need a car. There were only a few houses near it which meant we weren't conscious of making noise and we weren't overlooked at all.
We spent most of our 10 days at the villa. We did a drive around the island and the trip up the mountain, but prefered to spend the rest of the time chilling out by the pool. We bar-b-qued most evenings and drove into Los Cristianos and Playa las Americas twice. Ate in Las Galletas one evening at less than €10 per head (drinks & tip incl).
Would i recoomend this property to a friend? Absolutely. It was perfect for the larger group of us.

Owner's Response: A lovely family who made good use of the villa and all it's facilities. I also like it when clients enjoy the Island to, it makes me proud to live in such a wondeful place.

Review Submitted: October 18, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
We traveled as a couple but chose a large villa as we dislike pokey apartments and crowds of people. We where not disappointed, the villa is huge and airy and is complemented by the Mandalay outside. Although our flight was delayed and we didn't arrive until after midnight Jacky & Ken where still there to greet us and show us the ropes. The villa was spotless, the furniture good quality and the welcome pack thoughtfully chosen. The heated pool was fantastic not to hot so it still cooled you down, but not the heart attack inducing cold you get in some villas. We liked the security of the villa once inside you could forget the outside world and just relax, unless you wanted to use the reliable WiFi or Sky TV of course. Las Galletas is a 5-10 minute drive down the road and is more Spanish than some of its neighbors, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas, and Costa Adeje which are all no more than 20 minutes away. The views of mount Teide in the morning are stunning and offer a great backdrop to the well kept garden that surrounds the villa. Overall we had a great fortnight and will come back to soak up more Canarian sunshine in this fantastic home.
Owner's Response: Such a pleasure to have guests that really enjoyed the villa, and looked after it as though it was their own, thank you very much and look forward to seeing you again in the future.
