Set in approximately 2000 square meters of flat land with olives, almonds and young citrus, a short driveway leads to the private parking area for two cars outside the house.

Inside this traditionally built casita you will find a spacious open plan living area with modern fitted kitchen, light and airy dining space furnished with pine table and chairs for six, and a comfortable sitting area with sofa, day bed and a log burner to keep you snug on winter evenings. Rustic shelving houses a collection of local pottery opposite which french windows open onto the shady terrace.

Also within the house are two double bedrooms and a fully tiled bathroom with shower, wc and washbasin. One bedroom features large built in attractive wooden wardrobes whilst the other offers spacious cupboards, there is also a floor standing fan to keep you cool on summer nights.

From the french windows in the living area you access the shady wooden terrace with gas barbecue where you can dine outdoors or simply laze away the peaceful, sunny days. Steps lead from this terrace to the private pool with tiled surround, sunbeds and parasol. The pool is approximately 3.5m x 7m and deep enough for swimming.

The easterly aspect of the house is highly prized by the local Spanish as it offers early morning sunshine whilst protecting the interior from the heat of the midday sun. (Don't worry if you're a sun worshipper, there's always a sunny spot outside!!).

Cortijo Teresa is located towards the end of a well maintained track so the only passing traffic is likely to be Natalio and his mule.

The Andalucia region

Andalucia is the southermost region of Spain with more than 300 days of sunshine per year. With beaches, mountains and historical cities it really does offer something for everyone.

Las Alpujarras

The moorish village of Valor perches on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada gazing out over the valley and the market town of Ugijar. An unspoilt traditional Spanish village popular with spanish tourists. Situated two hours from Granada (the Alhambra Palace is truely unmissable) and one hour from the coast, culture, countryside, beaches and skiing are all within easy reach.

With a population of just under 1000, the village has 9 bars all of which serve tapas and a couple of which offer a full menu. There are also 2 small supermarkets, one with it's own bakery, which sell all essentional shopping items including fresh meat, fruit and veg. The travelling market visits on the 4th and 19th of every month with a few stalls selling clothing, plants, nuts & olives etc. For a wider range of shops and a bustling twice monthly market (5th and 20th), the town of Ugijar is just 10 kilometers away. The village pool is open during the months of July and August and there are numerous fiestas throughout the year, the largest of these being Moors and Christians in September when the villagers re-enact the taking of the Alhambra complete with horses and musket fire.

You are surrounded by magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada and Contraviersa mountain ranges with numerous opportunities for walking and mountain biking on your doorstep. For the more adventurous, Mulhacen is close at hand.

Try visiting a local vineyard, take a walking tour, hire a mountain bike, visit the historical city of Granada, explore the local villages or simply while away your time relaxing by the pool!

Popular with Spanish tourists but as yet relatively undiscovered by other nationalities, Valor is an extremely friendly pueblo blanco and an ideal place to observe and enjoy the traditional Spanish way of life.
