Cuesta Vinas in Springtime

Finca | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2

Key Info
  • Swimming Pool
  • Great for children of all ages
  • Pets welcome
  • Private garden

Cuesta Vinas is a small hamlet famed for its naturally carbonated spring water. Situated just 2 km out of the village of Valor, (a gentle 30 minute stroll), this casita is perched on the hillside overlooking the hamlet and offers peace and tranquillity without being remote.

Within the 4000 square meters of land you will find a newly planted orchard, 4m diameter plunge pool with sun bathing area and parasol, organic flower and vegetable gardens and a shaded outdoor dining area, all with fantastic views down the valley to the sierras of Gador and the Contraviersa. A second casita (Casa Verde 1359602) is also available to rent but the two are totally private from each other and each has it's own pool, gardens and terraces.

The spacious casita is open-plan, divided into a well equipped dining kitchen, sitting area with an antique wood burning stove and fabulous views down the valley, and a comfortable bedroom area which can be curtained off for privacy if you so wish.

The house is surrounded by extensive terraces with both sunny and shaded areas. The shaded, outdoor dining space is accessed from the kitchen by french windows and seats 6 in comfort. It is equipped with both a BBQ and a wood fired earth oven and pots of fresh herbs are available for your use. The sunny front terrace has sunbeds in addition to a further table and seating for 4 whilst to the rear is an outdoor solar heated shower.

The house is traditionally built with shutters which keep out the fierce heat in July and August whilst ensuring a cosy space during the colder months of winter. The kitchen area is fully equipped with 4 ring gas hob, gas fridge with icebox and sink. There is ample crockery, glassware, cutlery etc. A large dining table provides seating for up to 4 people in comfort with french windows opening onto the outdoor dining area. The living area is focused around the old wood burner with comfortable seating for 4 and contains a selection of books and games for evening entertainment. French windows give access to the front sunbathing terrace. The bedroom area has a double bed and plenty of storage space and can be screened from the rest of the house by full length curtains hung from the wooden beam. The separate, tiled bathroom contains shower, washbasin and wc.

There is wireless broadband and a speaker system suitable for an MP3 player available for your use in the casita. Lights and electricity are provided by solar power. This is sufficient for charging laptops, mobile phones and an electric fan etc. but will not run hair dryers, straighteners or other power hungry devices. Please ask if you have a particular item you wish to know about.

We do not recommend drinking the tap water although it is fine when boiled, but there is a naturally carbonated spring located just 5 minutes walk from the house where you can replenish the provided containers.

Please be aware that this house is located in mountainous countryside making it unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility.

The Andalucia region

Andalucia is the southermost region of Spain with over 300 days of sunshine per year. With beaches, mountains and historical cities, it really does have something for everyone.

Las Alpujarras

The moorish village of Valor perches on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada gazing out over the valley and the market town of Ugijar. An unspoilt traditional Spanish village popular with spanish tourists. Situated two hours from Granada (the Alhambra Palace is truely unmissable) and one hour from the coast, culture, countryside, beaches and skiing are all within easy reach.

With a population of just under 1000, the village has 9 bars all of which serve tapas and a couple of which offer a full menu. There are also 2 small supermarkets, one with it's own bakery, which sell all essentional shopping items including fresh meat, fruit and veg. The travelling market visits on the 4th and 19th of every month with a few stalls selling clothing, plants, nuts & olives etc. For a wider range of shops and a bustling twice monthly market (5th and 20th), the town of Ugijar is just 10 kilometers away. The village pool is open during the months of July and August and there are numerous fiestas throughout the year, the largest of these being Moors and Christians in September when the villagers re-enact the taking of the Alhambra complete with horses and musket fire.

You are surrounded by magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada and Contraviersa mountain ranges with numerous opportunities for walking and mountain biking on your doorstep. For the more adventurous, Mulhacen is close at hand.

Try visiting a local vineyard, take a walking tour, hire a mountain bike, visit the historical city of Granada, explore the local villages or simply while away your time relaxing by the pool!

Popular with Spanish tourists but as yet relatively undiscovered by other nationalities, Valor is an extremely friendly pueblo blanco and an ideal place to observe and enjoy the traditional Spanish way of life.
