The Midi-Pyrénées region
Historic setting just outside the castle walls of the 13th century fortified village of Larressingle in the Gers. The cottages are quietly located, just out of sight of the castle, but with easy access to the bar/creperie within the castle walls, and a nearby restaurant.
The Gascony region of south-west France is still relatively undiscovered by tourists, and so provides the chance to relax and enjoy something of the real France. The surrounding countryside is fields of sunflowers and Armagnac vines. Duck dishes, foie gras and prunes are the local specialities, washed down with Armagnac or the local aperitif 'Pousse Rapiere'! The bustling market town of Condom is only 5km away and offers all amenities and a range of restaurants.
The area abounds with history with its medieval fortified villages at Fourcès, Montréal du Gers, La Romieu, l'Abbaye de Flaran, to name but a few. Colourful weekly market in Condom, as well as at nearby towns of Nérac, Eauze and Lectoure.
See recent article in Daily Telegraph online (February 2011) for a taste of what's offered at Larressingle: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sponsored/travel/free-wheel/8345917/Larressingle.html

Weekly markets at Condom, Nerac, Eauze and Agen. "Parc Walibi", part of the Six Flags empire is at Roquefort near Agen (30km), smaller than many theme parks, but perfect for a family day out, and tickets are good value for money. Bordeaux and the Bordeaux vineyards eg. St Emilion about 90 minutes drive, a great opportunity to stock your wine cellar.

"A relaxing holiday in a nice and very cosy cottage!"
We spent a lovely week at le Figuier in July. In the middle of a very small medieval village lies the cottage. It is very quiet and calm. The cottage has a lovely garden and a beautiful terrace under the fig tree. When it was hot we jumped in the swimming pool, which was not too small and not too big either. The cottage was well equiped and we found everything we needed. The environment is very lovely with large fields of sunflowers and vineyards. There were a few tourists. We went to visit Airbus in Toulouse, we did some tree climbing, we hired some bicycles, we did a lot of hiking and we visited some nice little villages in the area.

"a WEEK WAS TOO LONG"
We were happy with the overall look and feel of the gite. There were some things that were broken and dangerous and the manager seemed to be aware but not too concerned. We also discovered powerpoints that pull out of the wall as you plug in the kettle. Kids dvds were all scratched and out dated making it very frustrating with young children. When we asked about internet it was looked at as a non necessity and we were told to go to the sports bar in Condom which we did and due to a mix up ended up spending about 80 euros on lunch for 5 of us which was very average for a short use of internet at the end as by then the kids were climbing the walls. Internet was accessed at the Auberge up the road but again we felt obliged to buy a meal for our "free wifi' which cost about 70 eur. Food was average here for what you pay. Once we saw the castle and the kids visited camp siege, anything else of interest is a drive- be prepared to drive a lot!
Such a shame you had an expensive misunderstanding at the café, it is a very popular location for WiFi with many of our guests for just the price of a cup of coffee and a great view of the cathedral too. However, the good news is that Le Figuier and Le Tilleul will be upgraded over the winter season with a broadband connection for all guests to use.

"A magical place"
Larressingle is a beautful tiny village. the medieval castle is stunning and quite enchanting. we walked through it or had running races with the kids around it every day. there are a few gift shops and 2 cafes for having lunch, drink, Crepes etc. the surrounding countryside is spectacular - very rural. Good value at the local restaurant. The house is a good size for a family of 4. Beds comfy, rooms dark and quiet at night so kids slept in. Waking up to squirrels feeding in the tree and scampering across lawn. Big front yard for soccer and badminton. Large area to eat meals outside (although my hubby did have to clean the BBQ before we could use it). The pool was fantastic for our children. We visited local market in eauze, canoed down the Baise(excellent) visited medieval site machines in Larressingle which kids loved, fantastic dinner in Fources. There is also an excellent flat bike path or running/hiking track about 4km down the road. A great week - could stay longer.

"We had a lovely time - Larressingle is a great place to stay."
Le Figuier was just right for us in terms of space and location. We arrived on the day of the Medieval Fair in Larressingle so we joined hundreds of others at a Medieval Banquet on our first night.
The pool at Le Figueir was lovely; as the outside temperature averaged 37 degrees C every day it was gorgeous to be able to slip into the pool to cool down. It was still hot at night so the fans provided in the main sleeping area were very welcome. The outdoor eating and BBQ area was great but could have done with a sweep and a hose down before we arrived.
We would definitely consider going back to Le Figueir again; preferably for 2 weeks next time. 1 week was not long enough.

"Lovely property in a great location"
We loved Le Figuier and it's great location. We compliment the owner and caretaker on the high standard of the property. The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and perfect for our needs. We particularly liked it's close proximity to the castle/old walled village and the wonderful creperie. We had a great week touring around the nearby picturesque villages, enjoying walks around Larressingle and generally relaxing. We would have no hesitation recommending Le Figuier or Le Tilleul to anyone wishing to stay in this area.

"A perfect base for the Gers"
A great little gite in the heart of the picturesque village of Larresingle. An easy jump to all the major sites of the Gers and Armagnac. The gite has everything you need including woodfire, BBQ and nice outdoor seating area. We loved our four weeks there.

"Great place to stay - ideal for extended family"
Had a lovely holiday here. I have 3 small children and they were very well provided for. The barn was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I particularly liked the pool which was obviously very popular with the children and had the added reassurance of an alarm in case someone fell into the pool by accident. There was also a lovely garden and we spent several pleasant evenings here having a bbq. We were on holiday with extended family and they were staying in the farmhouse. This was an ideal set up as it meant we could have big get togethers but also had plenty of space. I can't comment much on the surrounding area as my children mainly wanted to stay in the pool. We went horse riding and swam in local lakes which had a variety of slides into them. Overall a very relaxing holiday.

"Time Travel to Relaxation"
Lefiguier provides great accommodation in a beautiful part of France. Situated directly outside the Ancient fortified village of Larressingle. Easy access to beautiful medieval towns of Condom, Agen, Auch and Nerac, and more ancient bastides and chateaux than you will ever have time to visit. Great for cycling, walking and river based activities. Wonderful for a late afternoon swim in the shared pool with private access, and for sipping a chilled glass of Floc (local aperitif) while reading a good book.
