The Midi-Pyrénées region
Historic setting just outside the castle walls of the 13th century fortified village of Larressingle in the Gers. The cottages are quietly located, just out of sight of the castle, but with easy access to the bar/creperie within the castle walls, and a nearby restaurant.
The Gascony region of south-west France is still relatively undiscovered by tourists, and so provides the chance to relax and enjoy something of the real France. The surrounding countryside is fields of sunflowers and Armagnac vines. Duck dishes, foie gras and prunes are the local specialities, washed down with Armagnac or the local aperitif 'Pousse Rapiere'! The bustling market town of Condom is only 5km away and offers all amenities and a range of restaurants.
The area abounds with history with its medieval fortified villages at Fourcès, Montréal du Gers, La Romieu, l'Abbaye de Flaran, to name but a few. Colourful weekly market in Condom, as well as at nearby towns of Nérac, Eauze and Lectoure.
See recent article in Daily Telegraph online (February 2011) for a taste of what's offered at Larressingle: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sponsored/travel/free-wheel/8345917/Larressingle.html
PLACES OF INTEREST:

Weekly markets at Condom, Nerac, Eauze and Agen. "Parc Walibi", part of the Six Flags empire is at Roquefort near Agen (30km), smaller than many theme parks, but perfect for a family day out, and tickets are good value for money. Bordeaux and the Bordeaux vineyards eg. St Emilion about 90 minutes drive, a great opportunity to stock your wine cellar.
SWIMMING / RECREATION:
Nearest base de loisirs (leisure park) is at Montréal du Gers (10km), a natural lake, with water slides and a sandy beach. "We all loved every minute of our stay"
This a great house for family as it has two bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and spacious living and dining areas, plus outdoor dining and large garden. Well equipped, couldn't have asked for more. Local caretakers who are delightful and very helpful. Good wifi, English TV. Lovely countryside with shopping 5km away Perfect for a peaceful get away.

"Wonderful place to stay!"
We were made to feel very welcome from the first contact to book this gite which was done at late notice. The property is located in the shadows of the lovely castle which provided a lovely backdrop and was great to explore. There are a couple of restaurants nearby but only one was open due to the time of the year. This was lovely though with great food at very reasonable prices. The gite itself was extremely comfortable with everything you would need for a large group or for a smaller group. The appliances were modern and catered for all requirements. The rooms are large which complimented the character of the property. If you had a very large group or two families, the gite next door is an excellent set up with a pool in the courtyard between. Each property have a large yard and equipment for children which is great.

"Wonderful relaxing holiday"
This was our second year staying here in Larressingle and we had a great two weeks. The house was very spacious and had everything we needed although wifi would be a plus for anyone who needs to check emails etc. I would also recommend that anyone arriving late bring some provisions for breakfast as there are no shops and nowhere serving food locally before ten am. very scenic area and great place to relax. Hopefully we will go again.

"A wonderful, happy holiday."
Accommodation was superb, and we found everything as described - spacious, well maintained, spotlessly clean and comfortable . There was a lovely pool which was great for cooling off after visiting some of the lovely bastide villages and markets in the vicinity. Larrressingle is a medieval village with a castle. The castle is only a short walk away, and we enjoyed the crepes in the castle grounds. It was good to have a place so close. A memorable holiday! I can thoroughly recommend Le Tilleul.
I am delighted you and your friends enjoyed your stay at our cottages. A lovely idea to come away together to explore the area by day, and enjoy playing bridge in the evenings. We hope to welcome your bridge group back again next year. Best wishes, Helen

"Live the French life in a tiny French village"
We arrived at the end of April for 9 weeks as part of a long trip we are making through Europe. The gite was everything it was advertised to be and much more, so well equipped, comfortable and very spacious. The local caretakers were so welcoming and helpful and the owner always available for questions prior to our arrival. We loved the markets, the walks, the restaurants and villages. We cooked with the wonderful French ingredients. Met interesting people and became friends. The gite is in a small village with just a castle - a retreat from the busy world. We can't recommend it highly enough. Friends came and stayed and loved it too, they were so impressed with the quality and space. The outside space is really large too. You would not be disappointed. The surrounding villages are just delightful, a photographers dream. We miss it greatly.

The house is in a lovely setting very close to the Castle at Larressingle which you can enter and walk round at any time of the day. The children loved going to ‘joust’ over in the castle in the evenings and they really enjoyed their visit to the medieval war machines in the village. The house itself you couldn’t fault. There are plenty of things to see and do in the area. We travelled on our own but the the proximity of the two rental properties with the shared pool would also be great for larger parties.

"Beautiful place, brilliant gites!"
We stayed for two warm weeks in august and loved the gites and the village. The wine was very welcome when we arrived! The gites were clean and tidy. We were staying with family friends who rented the opposite gite to us so sharing the pool was great for us. The children spent a lot of time swimming. The creperie in the village was great as was the tea shop. The ferme auberge in the village was excellent and we returned three times in the fortnight!

"excellent accommodation in a beautiful, historic area."
The property has huge downstairs accommodation as well as the pool and garden. All well presented and maintained. An easy place to relax. The surrounding area oozes history and is rolling, green and beautiful.

"Many problems, no recourse"
Le Tilleul was plagued with an infestation of wood wasps throughout our stay. My wife and I were forced to sleep in the downstairs bedroom (not the Master) and to entirely close off the large living room in order to minimize the problem. However, we had to kill many wasps in the kitchen, day by day. Also, the laundry washing machine did not function. We heard from our neighboring guests that both problems had existed for the previous renters. Due to these problems we asked the owner for consideration of some refund, but received no response on this request. Due to this lack of consideration, as well as to our own feeling that an effective approach for wasp extermination should have been used (a single, midnight treatment with the appropriate technique and chemicals), we would never again consider renting this property.

"Lovely, relaxing stay in Le Tilleul"
Larressingle is a really charming village with friendly residents and lovely surrounding countryside. The gite itself is spacious, comfortable and full of character. We were fortunate enough to have the pool to ourselves during our week's stay and the garden was lovely for eating out in. We would definitely rent the gite again.
