About the home

Rest or explore the options are yours. We offer all that is needed for the beach or advice on walking and sightseeing. For example times for journeys in a strange country. Towels, chairs and picnic coolboxes are all available for visitors to take out.

Ah!!!! is the usual reaction of guests on entering the spacious courtyard from the main door off the narrow village street. The courtyard is a haven of colour with its many flowers. Your large airy room offers privacy when desired after a full day of exploring this lovely area.

Pick the grapes or pomegranates in summer - buy locally grown vegetables near the secluded village beach. In the winter we have a warm peaceful area to enjoy the sun.

Our self catering studio apartment is non-smoking and accommodates up to 3 people with 1 double bed and 1 sofa bed. A cot is available on request. The apartment has a spacious living area with original timbered ceiling and plaster coving. A/C and fans are provided. Although it is self catering we can provide a continental breakfast. Facilities in the form of microwave, sandwich maker and outdoor BBQ are available for those wishing to cook at home but generally visitors enjoy visiting local tavernas for main meals.

Sit outside at night under the stars to read or enjoy a sundowner courtesy of your host, amongst the trees and flowers (plumbago, roses, bougainvillea) or under the grape vine. The central courtyard is very private. On the balcony one can see the sea over the village rooftops.

The Larnaca region

Larnaca has a new airport (Nov 2009) and lies 35 minutes from our village by either the motorway or the sea routes. The nearby village of Zyggi has many varied restaurants to eat in and relax, or one can visit Tochni, for village tavernas. In Psematismenos we have the Lord Kitcheners restaurant or Kalavassos for the new Library hotel and restaurant both of which offer a special night out in easy reach of Maroni.

Twenty minutes from our village lies the Lace village of Lefkara with its traditional crafts and houses, this can be combined with a trip and lunch in the mountain villages for a day out. Most areas of the island can be visited in a day from Maroni. This year we have a new daily bus service to Larnaca which can enable one to meet local people and avoid parking worries for a novel day out.

The Larnaca Town / Maroni area

Maroni a small agricultural village is possibly the ideal place from which to explore Cyprus. Within 15 minutes drive east, we have a Camel park with restaurant and swimming pool. At 20 minutes Dreamland, a children's activity/ play centre. We love the quiet beach but 15 minutes west we have the famous Governer's beach area with it's many restaurants for lunch or an evening cocktail. There are riding stables at Kalavassos 7 minutes to the north. In Sept/Oct there is a music festival in Limassol and the 1st of October has a village celebration of all crafts in the area. (The location for this is rotated but is not far from Maroni). Chirokitia has the famous Neolithic site, and Lefkara with its lace making and pretty houses is also not far away.

We recommend flying to Larnaca airport, British Airways is comfortable with good offers in the sales also Cyprus Airways travels from Heathrow, Stanstead and Birmingham. Thomson, Thomas Cook and Monarch, Easy Jet also fly to Larnaca with good prices and times. In the future we will also benefit from Ryan air to Larnaca.

Maroni is about 30 minutes from the airport either along the coast or the main Limassol highway.

Rental rate for 2 persons in the apartment is 40 - 60 Euros per night. depentant on season and length of stay.

A twin bedded room is also available on request.

An additional 20 Euros per week is required for the cot. (minimum charge).

Minimum stay is 4 nights or part thereof.

In addition we have a twin bedded balcony room with own shower room and fridge but fewer cooking facilities for 35 euros per night.

A twin bedded double balcony room is also available for parties of 4 only. Rates on request.

Payment is half on booking by bank transfer and the rest 3 weeks prior to arrival.
