Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Villa Manzara stands well back from a quiet road just 500 metre from the centre of Lapta, a village that has several good restaurants, cafes, small supermarkets, a butcher, pharmacy, ladies and gents hairdressers, a post office and an internet cafe. Lapta is about 8 miles from Kyrenia with its superb old harbour, banks, coffee bars, shops and restaurants. The villa's colourful garden and well-established orchard (mainly olive, orange & lemon trees) provide a peaceful setting as well as the possibility of fresh orange juice in season.
There is a large parking & turning area with terraces at rear and on the roof. The pool is private. There are superb views over the sea and up to the mountains. All the accommodation is on one level, just two steps up from the parking area. The fully furnished roof terrace has a pergola and BBQ. It is an individual villa, not part of an estate.
It is ideal for a get-away-from-it all holiday for any age, while the pool is especially suitable for young children who, from guest reports, have to be dragged away from it to do other things. For those who enjoy mountain walking it is a short drive up into the local mountains. Scuba diving is also very popular with several wrecks to explore.

About this location
The Kyrenia District
The Kyrenia region is the tourist centre of North Cyprus, with its picturesque old harbour area, museums, restaurants and shopping. The coast line to east and west of Kyrenia has many hotels, restaurants, beaches and activities available for visitors, while the Kyrenia range of mountains offers spectacular views, wonderful mountain walks, crusader castles and an ancient abbey. It is a good area for scuba-diving with many wrecks just off-shore, while paragliding & horse-riding offer alternative views of the area. In the spring the mountains and wild promontories are ablaze with unique local orchids and 'black' tulips, while the winter months remain warm and scented by orange and jasmine blossom. It is possible to swim in a warm sea right through to December. The locals are very friendly and welcoming, so it is a perfect destination for a healthy and relaxing holiday at any time of the year. Summer temperatures can rise into the top 30's C, while winter rarely falls below 16-17C; May and September are favoured months for perfect temperatures, in the mid to top 20's C.
Further afield is the divided capital city of Lefkosa (Nicosia) where one can walk along the now rejoined old main street through the border to south Cyprus, as well as enjoying the markets and jewellery shops of Lefkosa. Even further, but well worth the drive, is the old city of Famagusta, the ancient Greek city of Salamis and the amazing Karpas peninsula with its wild donkeys and ancient sites.
Lapta is a sprawling village 8 miles west of Kyrenia. It has its own 'town' beach, with a bar/restaurant next door, with several others in easy driving distance. The village 'high street' has small supermarkets, a butcher, a pharmacy, a post office, take-away food outlets and small cafes and restaurants. There are 3 or 4 more substantial restaurants within walking distance of the villa, all reasonably priced. On the nortern edge of the village, visible from the roof terrace, is a small water park. Other beaches (e.g. Sunset Beach, with facilities such as large swimming pools, pedaloes, banana boats etc) can be found on the coast road below the village.
Further to the west, about 15 minutes drive, is a beautiful Horshoe-shaped (and named) beach with a small restaurant and sheltered swimming, while another 30 minutes on, off the main road to Guzelyurt is Akdeniz beach, a huge shallow bay with one beach restaurant.

This was a great villa in a lovely village with everything we could need. The local food shops - including butcher and fishmonger - in the village were great and there were some lovely places to eat out, very cheaply. We don't like driving so it was really important for us that we could get everything locally, and the local buses are excellent. The villa is lovely and the rooftop seating area fantastic - great to be able to sit out under the stars, listening to the call to prayer and the noises of the valley. Only problem was the August heat - too hot for us! We'd love to come again but would do so in Spring or Autumn when we could be a bit more active. But for a lazy summer holiday it was perfect. Julziy is really welcoming and helpful.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the villa Manzara. It ticked most boxes for us. The views by the pool were lovely - mountains one way and the sea the other. Julzsy the young lady who looked after the villa was very helpful and friendly as was June the owner of the villa - she kindly answered many questions for us not having been to North Cyprus before.
