The Kyrenia District
Kyrenia is a small busling town with a large fortress castle towering above what is claimed to be the most picturesque harbour in the Mediterranean. The harbour is lined with small bars and restaurants where one can sit and watch the fishing boats come and go.The history of the island is fascinating and there are many ruins and castles to be seen.
Lapta area
The village of Lapta climbs the Besparmak mountainside. In the main street men sit outside cafes drinking Turkish coffee whilst they chat and play backgammon.There are several shops selling groceries and vegetables and a bakery where you can buy hot loaves early in the morning, there is also a butchers and a pastry shop. In the village centre there is an internet cafe. The area is well known for bird-watching and its flora and fauna.In spring time, experts offer guided walks and tours which can easily be arranged. At certain times of year you can join conservation teams to watch the turtles come ashore to lay their eggs and later hatch out. Maps and leaflets on the surrounding area and local activities are provided at Sunny House.
How to get there
Fly from London Stansted/Heathrow/Gatwick or Manchester and other UK airports to Ercan, North Cyprus via Turkey. Or you can fly to Larnaca, South Cyprus and pick-up can be arranged for approx 45/50 pounds sterling. Taxis from Ercan to Lapta cost approx 30 pounds sterling. If you book car hire through us via Ercan your transfer will be free of charge.

Further details outdoors: There are ample sunbeds/ loungers/chairs, and the large terrace surrounding the pool is perfect for sunbathing. There are several balconies and to the south are uninterrupted views of the mountains and to the north views over fields towards the sea. The barbecue is on a large terrace with plenty of room for al fresco dining. There is parking space for several cars.
