FRENCH HOLIDAY HOME IN THE DORDOGNE SLEEPS 8 + BABY
Our traditional holiday home to rent is an ideal place to relax, with large garden in the middle of the historic village of Lanquais in the Dordogne region of France, only 20 minutes drive from Bergerac airport with flights by Flybe and Ryanair from various UK airports.
Everything you need is within easy reach, whether this be cycling, walking, golf, canoeing down the Dordogne, visiting chateaux or wine tasting.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen, large comfortable lounge, 3 double bedrooms, one single, shower room and bathroom, with one double (which has an additional single bed) together with a single room (which also has a baby cot if required) and shower room located on the ground floor, and one double and one twin bedded room with family bathroom located on the first floor, making it ideal for two families
The village has a post office, a small shop, with a fresh bread delivery every morning, and a superb, reasonably priced restaurant Les Marronnieres, which also has a friendly bar.
There is a also beautiful medieval chateau in the village which is open to the public during the summer.
The Plan d'Eau de Lanquais is a man-made swimming lake with a sandy beach, offering a very pleasant day out for families with young children, and has a life guard, small café and toilets, and is located 1 mile from the property.
The village of Lanquais, is an ideal base for a holiday for exploring South West France. Located in the heart of the Dordogne, (Aquitaine region), it is within easy reach of Sarlat, Perigueux, Lascaux and Souillac. The house is in the Bergerac wine region and is only a short drive from St Emilion in the Bordeaux area. The medieval market town of Issigeac is also nearby.
The area is renowned for its gourmet restaurants and home produced foods and the markets host the most amazing array of fresh produce from the region. With beautiful honey coloured villages, some perched clinging to the side of rocks and others set around planned squares and courtyards the medieval Bastide towns beckon you to have a coffee and take in the atmosphere and the history of the area.
Lalinde, a vibrant, pretty market town 5 minutes drive for supermarket shopping, has a small selection of local bars and restaurants, and hosts a bustling weekly market.
The medieval market town of Issigeac is also nearby with a lovely typical French market on Sunday mornings.
Bergerac situated on the banks of the Dordogne is the nearest large town has many excellent restaurants and bars with live music in the summer.
There is also a great Aqua Park in Bergerac for families with children.
