About the home
In the heart of Perigord Vert in the Dordogne, lies our magnificent 19th Century Chateau Durantey. Built in 1840, it has recently been refurbished to the highest standard of luxury. Each room has been carefully decorated with traditional colours and wallpaper from Farrow and Ball, and furnished with antiques and works of art. All bathrooms are of the highest standard, using brands such as Lefroy Brooks and Sottini and bed linen and towels from Frette. Each bedroom has a TV, DVD and telephone.
Chateau Durantey is set in 12 acres of beautifully kept gardens, complete with fruit orchards, a swimming pool and badminton court. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner can be taken on the terrace overlooking the picturesque village of Lanouaille, or alternatively a candle lit dinner can be enjoyed in the sumptuous dining room.
The Chateau Durantey is an historic landmark in French history. This was once the palatial home of Marashal Bugeaud, the Duke d'Isly. This chateau was actually given to him as a token of appreciation for his dedication to France. The Duke served under Napoleon and was most noted for plotting the victorious Algerian war in 1836. His influence on French history is evident in the numerous statues and landmarks named after him in France.
