The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

The region offers as much variety as an ordinary traveler could wish for: its monuments and remains range from prehistory cave drawings, endless historical and medival towns and villages, beautiful castles and their gardens, daily markets offering local produce and antiquites.
Lanouaille / La Durantie area
Chateau La Durantie is surrounding by beautiful rolling countryside. A 10 minute walk away is the pretty village of Lanouaille which has all the basic amenties : 2 bakeries, a few restaurants, a butcher, a supermarket, a pharmacy and a tourist office. In the summer there are several festivals in the village, and the surrounding areas. Down the hill from the chateau there is a A class river for trout fishing, and a 15 minute drive away there is the largest horse breeding place in France. There is also 5 minutes away a beautiful sand beach on a lake with water skiing and other sports. In the surrounding area there are several famous chateaux which open their gardens in the summer. Every day of the week there are wonderful markets selling everying from local produce to antiquities. A 15 minute drive away is a beautiful large town called St Yrieix, where one can find almost everything!

Ryanair flies and Flybe to Limoges and Bergerac airport. British airways, Bmi baby, flybe fly to Bordeaux airport. Easy Jet flies to Toulouse airport. Cars can be rented at airport from all major car rental companies.

Further details indoors: On the first floor there are 5 en-suite bedrooms, 2 of which have their own sitting room. On the second floor there are 7 bedrooms, 1 shower room and 2 bathrooms. The 5 en-suite bedrooms have each a large flat screen Tv and Dvd. All rooms have been newly renovated with Farrow & Ball paint and wallpaper and are furnished with beautiful antiques and aubusson carpets. The bathrooms are very luxurious with double marble sinks and Lefroy Brooks baths and fixtures and fittings. All rooms have Frette bed linen, towels and bathrobes.The kitchen has all mod cons including a Gaggenau dishwasher and fridge, a La Cornue oven, a Jura espresso machine and microvawe. The office is equipped with a computer(wireless throughout chateau and garden) printer, fax and free phone calls through out Europe and North America. The tv room has a large flat screen TV and DVD player. There is a large dvd (over 150) and book collection in the library. There is seating for upto 25 people in the dining room, but more tables and chairs can be added.
Further details outdoors: The chateau is surrounded by 12 acres of beautifully kept walled gardens. There is a large fruit orchard and a kitchen garden with plenty of vegetables and herbs. There is seating for upto 35 persons outside on the terrace. The swimming pool is heated and measures 12m by 6m . There are 12 luxurious sun loungers, 6 large parasols and 2 large gazebos. Also, a badminton court, a tennis table, a football table, children's swings and 1 large BBQ. There is a garage space for 4 cars and bicycles to use.
