La Garanne is a comfortable farmhouse located on the outskirts of a friendly village in the heart of the beautiful Dordogne. There are 2 bakeries and a decent size supermarket within 5 minutes walk, but the property is quiet as a whisper and has expansive views over the valley. The house is well set up for famillies with a cot and highchair available and there are games and books too.

We are 10minutes drive to Chateau Durantie in Lanouaille, which is a popular place for weddings. Lots of our guests choose to book with us and make a holiday of attending a wedding there.

Superb cycling country means you will never be lost for a new route to explore and there is golf nearby. Bikes are available at the property free of charge.

We provide a welcome pack with all the essentials and are happy to provide a more substantial one if you will be arriving late at night, just let us know what you would want. Our property manager lives local and is on hand if you need it.

The house is clean and tidy and is set up for year round living, it's not just a holiday home. The gardens have been planted out last year and the expansive lawn is great for the kids to run about or a fun game of badminton.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The Dordogne region of south-west France is one of the most beautiful and popular destinations in the country. Visit this beautiful region of France and discover the chateaux, beautiful medieval towns and villages, unspoiled countryside and prehistoric caves.

During the summer months there are many evening fairs where you can buy fish or meat and have it cooked for you, then choose a salad or chips and finish with a bottle of the famous regional wine and top with a dessert, all supplied by the friendly local farmers. It's a great way to meet local people and other tourists, these weekly events are very popular especially later in the evening. Payzac has a weekly fair which runs during July and August.

Rouffiac lake is only 15 minutes drive away and is your local beach in the heart of the countryside. This man made beach is the perfect spot to laze away the days of your holiday. The calm water is perfect for the kids and there are walking trails, canoeing and wind surfing if you are feeling energetic.

"Rural and relaxing"

We stayed at La Garanne for 1 week with 2 adults and a 1 year old and found it be be a comfortable, clean and lovely cottage. Nowhere is ever as baby proofed as your own home but we found it to be safe enough to relax with a toddler exploring each room! The cottage was really well equipped and the welcome pack was a great help as we arrived late in the evening when the shops were closed. Rachel was a great help with my many questions prior to the trip and I would happily recommend this place to friends and family.

"What a gem!"

What a little gem. We found the farmhouse at La Garanne to be a wonderful base for a holiday. Lovely, immaculately clean accommodation, a comfortable bed which was already made with good quality linens and clean fluffy towels were also provided. The farmhouse is in a delightful location and is both safe and quiet. The owners (Rachel and Ben) provided us with detailed travel directions including a map of La Garanne as well as many thoughtful extras; such as a little welcome pack of bread butter, milk etc, info for the house and local area eg. places to visit, places to eat, market days etc which was very useful and greatly appreciated by us.

Payzac, is situated in beautiful countryside and has lakes and rivers and plenty of things to do and we found the people to be friendly and welcoming. We had use of two relatively new bicycles and cycled to nearby Lake Rouffiac which has a sandy beach with safe swimming, watersports, and a restaurant/bar with magnificent views across the lake. The surrounding villages ( for example: Segur-le Chateax, Hautefort, Brantome etc.) are all very charming and well worth a visit.

There are two bakers, each with very pleasant proprietresses, a butcher and a small shop in the village and a larger supermarket in the adjoining village . We recommend the bakery on the market square for the best baguettes, croissants and patisserie. Every second Tuesday there is a compact market on the square where you can buy fresh produce, fruit, vegetable, cheese, meats etc. and we where lucky enough to be there on a market day.

From the very beginning we found Rachel to be most helpful and La Garanne a wonderful, very relaxing and special place to stay.

We would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation and we wish to thank our hosts for such a great experience and we are planning a return visit.

"Fabulous views, sunshine and easy outdoor living with village life, leisure lake & tourist attractions nearby."

The house is a little cottage attached to a barn in an elevated position overlooking beautiful rolling hills, and yet within easy reach of a village with all the essentials (FANTASTIC patisserie, also… More
