The Midi-Pyrenees / Hautes-Pyrenees region
The Midi-Pyrenees is the largest region in France, famous for its festive feel, sunny climate and spectacular views. The towering peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains, cool mountain rivers and the wild Aubrac mountain make the region fantastic for many outdoor pursuits. Enjoy the beautiful areas of unspoilt natural (oak) forest, vineyards and sunflower fields. Why not take an afternoon trip by canoe through one of the famous gorges with their magnificent rough landscape with steep walls and leanover rocks.
Most towns and villages in the region boast vibrant and colourful weekly markets. Antique markets are often organized through out the year with the Tourist Information Bureau listing where and when. Wine lovers can spend their days exploring the Gaillac vineyards and enjoy the tours and tastings that are offered by the local chateaux and caves.
Our property is situated approx 30 minutes drive from Lourdes which is a major historic, spiritual tourist attraction.
Lannemezan / Tarbes area
Tarbes can offer a fantastic array of discoveries and leisure activities. Le tour de France 2006 departure town and Birthplace of writer Théophile Gautier. With its rich heritage and ancient culture the capital of Bigorre has plenty to charm.
Local attractions include The Pyrenees offering two spas, caves with neolithic paintings and an under ground lake. Pic de Midi, an observatory for those stargazers out there and the town of Lannermezan recommended on Wednesdays for its large market selling local produce.
Travelling fun fairs, circus's and many musical festivals take place during the summer months to keep restless children entertained.
