Willow Cottage Somerset
About the home
Sarah, Tony and Zac welcome you to willow Cottage. It is very peaceful here, just on the edge of the village of Curry Rivel. In the village there is a thriving local post office, two pubs and a "late shop".There are excellent walks which we can show you, no need to drive!
There is a bus service to Taunton and Yeovil every hour. The levels are steeped in history, Muchelney Abbey is only four miles away, Barrington Court(NT) also four miles. There are many other places of historic interest. Curry Rivel is about half an hour's drive from the coast, either to the North or the South. The South Coast is the Jurassic Coast, so really interesting.
For not such good weather there is a Multiplex Cinema in Yeovil and Taunton and Hollywood bowls in both towns. For shoppers there is Clarkes Shopping Village at Street, again about half an hour away. Many of the small local market towns have really interesting shops and regular Farmer's Markets.
And don't forget we are very pet friendly,up to two dogs so long as they are not guard dog breeds. We have even had a parrot to stay!

The West Country / Somerset region

Somerset, Land of the Summer People...
Long sweeping beaches and coastal resorts at Minehead, Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare or Clevedon are perfect for family holidays made from sand, sea and surf.
Venture inland and you will find an epic and wild countryside, alive with colour. A National Park plus three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty are home to a diverse range of wildlife.
The Langport / Curry Rivel area
1. Shopping
In the village there are two pubs, both do food, a late shop and real village post office, open from 6.30 am for the papers! Langport is two miles away; there is a traditional baker, two butchers and a wet fish shop. Also some individual shops selling clothes, ethnic goods and antiques and an excellent Deli/Health food shop.
Just out of the town is Tesco, open 7am to 10 pm six days per week. On the way to Langport you will pass an Organic farm, Merricks, where you can buy really fresh fruit, flowers and vegetables all in their season, do
remember they will need a wash!
2. Things to Do
There are golf courses at Long Sutton and Taunton. Riding stables and trekking centre's on Exmoor and Dartmoor. There is fishing on the River Parrett and at some of the local lakes. There are nature reserves and bird sanctuaries just down the road and walks can begin from Willow Cottage for as far as you like.
Cycling is fantastic in the area. If you are a novice you can choose the Somerset levels for flat rides in beautiful countryside. Or if you really want a challenge then you can tackle Exmoor or the Quantocks. Bikes can be hired in Langport.

4. Eating Out
We have come up with the expression “Somerset portions”! Food is excellent and plentiful. The two pubs in Curry Rivel both do amazing food.
In Huish Episcopi , about 2.5 miles away, there is a really old pub called “The Rose and Crown”, famous for miles as it still has a taproom and no bar.
Between Langport and Somerton (the Ancient Capital of Wessex) is “The Halfway house”, a real traditional old pub, benches and flagstone floors, with excellent modern food.Just off the main road in Long Sutton is “The Devonshire Arms”, a lovely old inn with beautiful décor, lovely food and Belgian beer!
We have all the contact details as you may need to book in busy periods.
