The Gotaland region

Skane is quite different from the rest of Sweden - rather as a bit of the northern Europe continent attached to the Scandinavian peninsula. Our long coastline offers great sceneries and many possibilities for relaxing activities.

It is the very center of farming in Sweden - though much land is nowdays turned into excellent golf courses.

Distances are always short in Skane - one hour drive east-west and one hour drive north-south.

Lanskrona is a small town nicely located by Oresund with Denmark within sight. Its main attractions are Citadellet - built as fortress in the 17th century - and the island Ven which is 30 minutes by ferry from downtown.

In the summer the outdoor restaurants are very busy and can offer you a large variety of dining.

The old fisherman's village Borstahusen just north of the town, offers pittoresque streets, a nice beach and excellent dining.

"Schönes Refugium"

Wir haben den Aufenthalt bei Lennart sehr genossen - das Haus ist ein Juwel, von wo aus schöne Ziele erreicht werden können - die Insel Ven oder Malmö. Es gibt eine riesige Küche, die Zimmer sind … More

Vielen Dank!
Unsere Ziel ist nicht "gut" so sein - es soll "Spitze" sein.

"Nice place for good money!"

Nice light rooms with good and big beds.
The whole place is nice and calm, a perfect place to stay for a night or two when passing by.
I was there on a trip with work and the free wifi worked good. I did not have the opportunity to test the swimming pool, but it looked like a nice pool.

They have created a "mansion feeling" with the park around the house, it is not big, but nice.

One thing to remember is that they do not serve food and it is not central with allot of restaurants nearby.

"Wonderful B&B, wonderful owner"

We do not use B&B's very often, so I googled "the best B&B in Skåne" and the result was Hildero. I can not argue. The location was the thing we were after, driving from Europe and need… More

"Perfect base for a Skåne adventure!"

I don't know where to start with the compliments, if I'm honest.

Do I start with how lovely Lennart and Leila are? Or how perfect the location of Hildero is as a base for getting to almost anywhere in Skåne? Or the homely atmosphere, cleanliness or relaxed feel of the place?

Well, in that order, Lennart and Leila are lovely - welcoming, helpful, chilled out and laid back in a typical Swedish way. Our enjoyment of the stay in the region seemed to be their number 1 priority and their recommendations for day excursions were spot on - handy to have locals who really know the tourist and non-tourist gems of Skåne.

As for the location of Hildero, it's just 20 minutes from Helsingborg, 30 mins from Malmö or Höganäs/Mölle, 40 from the gorgeous beach at Falsterbo or Skåne's Djurpark at Höör, and just over an hour away from the east coast of the region.

At the end of each day, coming back to Hildero felt like coming home. With toys for our 20-month-old son to play with, a kitchen for an evening cuppa and a lounge to sit in after our son went to bed, it's a lovely quiet and personal place to stay. I wish more B&Bs were like this around Europe. Shame it wasn't warm enough for the pool, but some mad Dutch fella decided to go in anyway, commenting it was lovely.

I won't give it all away - go and see for yourself. Having stayed there for two weeks, we can highly recommend it for a short or long break.

Dear David,
Honestly we were a bit afraid before you arrived that you would find it a bit boring, too quiet and too far away from London city in all aspects.
But we soon realised that was part of what you were looking for.
Thanks for your kind and personal words. Some guests just want to be on their own - and that is fine. But when we have guests who are curious and want to know more and learn it is nothing but a privilige to be able to share your knowledge and be supportive.
Whenever you go to Sweden again - we will happy to be your hosts!
