Enquire nowThe West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Ceredigion region
Ceredigion boasts some of the most beautiful countryside and coastline in Wales, offering an abundance of tourist attractions and leisure pursuits to suit all tastes, including walking, fishing, golf, horse riding and cycling.
Fans of sailing and water sports are regularly attracted to Ceredigion’s welcoming beaches and harbours; Y Lanfa, Aberystwyth’s marina; Cardigan with its broad estuary waters; and New Quay’s fine sweeping bay.
The Cardigan Bay coastline is designated Heritage Coast and is a popular destination for tourists. Cardigan Bay is made up of smaller bays including Mwnt, Lochtyn, Cwmtydu and Penbryn, cared for by the National Trust, all within easy reach.
Tresaith is always a favourite with our guests, here you can see the River Saith cascading over the cliff tops as it joins the sea, but before leaving Tresaith the Ship Inn is a must for food. You can sit in the conservatory and take in the fine sea views whilst sampling the local fish; part of a comprehensive menu to suit all.
The rugged coastline around Llangranog is also very popular and within an easy drive, travelling thorugh some lovely countryside on the way.
The Georgian coastal town of Aberaeron, formerly an old fishing harbour, has brightly painted buildings and is famous for its Honey ice cream.
The Cardigan Bay area is home to bottlenose dolphins, porpoises, Atlantic grey seals and a wide variety of birds, flora and fauna. Regular boat trips leave New Quay for dolphin spotting, and they are often seen in the Bay.
Red Kites, choughs, peregrine falcons, gannets and puffins all resident in the area and can be spotted around the coastline.
Ceredigion offers a variety of walks, from gentle seaside strolls to Heritage Coast walks and rugged mountain hikes. The County features many town trails and way-marked paths including forest and countryside.
Pony trekking and cycling are excellent ways to enjoy the spectacular scenery, and there are several riding stables in the area. Beach riding is also available.
Cycling is also well catered for with coast, countryside and mountains to explore. Off road cycling is also available, if mountain biking is your sport you will find mountain-bike trails at the Nant Yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre near Ponterwyd.
If its art and culture you seek, Ceredigion is home to the two oldest universities in Wales, it also houses the National Library of Wales.
The Lampeter / Llanfair Clydogau area
LLanfair Clydogau is a small village, set amidst some of the most beautiful countryside of the Teifi Valley, located two miles from Lampeter, home of the University of Wales, Trinity St David.
Less than 4 miles away is Llanddewi Brefi, made famous by the BBC television series 'Little Britain', starring Matt Lucas.
Cilgwyn Golf Club in Llangybi, founded in 1905, is a nine-hole course just 2.2 miles from Plasbach.
The course sits in a secluded valley and is very picturesque. A flat parkland lay-out with trees, ponds and streams to test your skills. There's also a large practice area and putting green at Cilgwyn.
If its fishing you are looking for why not visit the LLanfair Stores stores where you can buy a Tregaron Fishing Club Permit to use during your stay. An Environment Agency licence is also available ranging from a one day permit to full season.
Local hotels, restaurants, and country pubs in the area produce a wealth of organic and natural products for you to sample. Local menus regularly feature delicious Welsh lamb and beef, and freshly caught fish such as trout, Cardigan Bay lobsters, and sewin (a delicate sea trout very much like salmon). You will also find a wealth of healthy vegetarian alternatives at many establishments.

We stayed at Plashbach as a family of seven adults and the letting was perfect. Beautifully decorated, quiet location with amazing views and sweet little garden with many nesting birds. The kitchen is well equipped and the little welcome pack was a lovely surprise. We had a lovely time relaxing and visiting many different places in the area from gold mines, picturesque seaside towns, sandy beaches, waterfall walks and steam train rides. Something for everyone! Thanks for a lovely holiday. |

We had a lovely stay at Plasbach and was blessed with beauitful weather for March with days hitting highs of 21, so we travelled to the beaches along cardigan bay. Poppit sands was excellent especially for small children as we could just let her run but she wasn't in any danger, she also loved the rock pools. We also visited Abereon and New Quay which are both beautiful places, Wales never seems to disappoint us and we travel out of season but this weekend was truely amazing. The cottage itself was full of everything you need, beautiful garden over looking a field full of sheep which my daughter loved at 10am in the morning when the farmer came to feed them. My daughter is 2 1/2 and we felt very safe with her the cottage and garden is on a country lane so we had to watch her with the road however solved this by putting chairs in front of the steps but other than that it was perfectly safe for all ages of children and families. The decor was of a high standard and kitchen facilities were everything you would need. The whole booking process from start to finish was a of 5 star service and for that reason we would be happy to return to the Plasbach cottage and also use Aeron properties for holiday lets again. |
