The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region
Ceredigion's Heritage Coastline is part of the much larger all Wales Coast Path, which makes it easy to explore the beautiful Cardigan Bay Coastline. You may even be lucky enough to spot the Cardigan Bay bottlenose Dolphins along the way. These beautiful mammals have been celebrated in Aberporth by a local wood and stone sculptor, Paul Clarke, designing and creating a life-sized leaping dolphin sculpture, carved from Welsh Oak. This is on display at the sea front in Aberporth, and was unveiled in 2001.
You will be spoilt for choice for beaches and hidden coves in Ceredigion as there are over 16 beaches. Sandy beaches at Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith and Penbryn are ideal for bathing or simply lazing and are child friendly. The beaches further north near Aberystwyth have a mixture of shingle and sandy beaches; some are popular for wind sports and surfing. The local beaches are safe and clean and in 2011 the UK Seaside Award was awarded to 14 beaches in Ceredigion. These include Aberporth, Mwnt, Penbryn, Llangranog
