The Dodecanese region
Our location in Leros is one of the Greek Dodacanese islands. We are well placed for cruising both the Greek and Turkish coastlines. The boat is based in Leros Marina which is in the town of Lakki. Facilities ashore are good with modern and clean ablution blocks.
HOW TO GET HERE
There are many travel options depending on where you start your journey. Flights from UK airports to Kos are regular and inexpensive. You can then take the fast catamaran from Kos to Leros. Alternatively there is a flight from Kos to Leros. We can always pick you up in Kos by prior arrangement.
Alternatively you can fly into Athens and then take the plane from Athens to Leros airport.
Sailing is a joy in this area and the sea is crystal clear with unspoilt bays and often the opportunity for dolphin watching as you sail. It is also possible to spot turtle.
Annual Average Temperature 18,4ºC
Summer Average Temperature 27,3ºC
Winter Average Temperature 10,5ºC
Sailing conditions are ideal between May and October each year with July and August being the hottest months. It is rare to experience rain during these months.
The island of Leros is part of the 12 islands situated in the southeastern Aegean Sea and east of the Cyclades islands. The island is located just off the southwestern coast of Turkey, an area known as Asia Minor which was inhabited by the Greeks, including the rest of the eastern coast of the Aegean, as early as the 9th century BC until 1922. Graced with a rocky landscape, the geography of Leros is shaped by three peninsulas joined by two isthmuses, totalling an area of more than 53km2. It is renowned for its deep water and sheltered natural bays.
Throughout history the islands excellent harbours have earned Leros a highly prized strategic value mostly known by the WW11 historic events that took place on its land and sea.
Lakki town has a good choice of shops and cafes. The town has an Italian Art Deco styling to many of the buildings.
We have a pair of electric bicycles on board if you wish to explore the local area.
The other islands in the group are an easy day sail away.

"Beautifully kept yacht and great experience"
We spent a wonderful 5 days on board the 'Ann Sofi' as a skippered charter. The yacht itself is very well maintained by the owners, the master cabin is extremely comfortable and spacious. We traveled as a family and our daughter had one of the aft cabins which was ideal for her. This was our first sailing experience as a family and one we all enjoyed very much indeed. Our adventure started at Didium Marina then onto five of the Greek Dodecanese islands eventually ending up in Turgutreis Marina, stopping along the way for snorkeling and each evening in a different location, all of which were delightful. The owners were more than happy to impart their knowledge also letting our daughter take the helm whenever possible. We had outstanding breakfasts and lunches prepared for us on board and felt more than taken care of. All in all this was a fabulous introduction to sailing and has certainly given all the family the sailing bug.
Thanks for your feedback which is much appreciated and helpful for future guests. We hope to welcome you back again some time in the future.
