Home description

El Padron is an unusual house, reformed some 10 years ago to give a perfect place for a family holiday away from it all, yet within easy reach of the local beaches, golf courses and the fascinating cities of Granada, Malaga and Cordoba. Local bars and restaurants are a 10 minute drive away.

The house is spacious, with 2 sitting rooms, a kitchen/dining room, sitting room, 4 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms and a bathroom. Outside there is a large dining table under a covered terrace with seating for a largeb number of people, various sun and covered terraces, a private pool and a boules area in the garden.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

El Padron is situated in the hills above Lake Vinuela, in the Axarquia region of the Eastern Costa del Sol. Until quite recently this was a relatively unknown area to foreigners, and has kept its Spanish character, especially in the small white villages that dot the area.

There are various activities in the area for those who like to keep busy - water sports, scuba diving, golfing, horse-riding, quad-biking. For those who prefer a quieter time, there are many lovely walks in the area where you may be able to spot some of the local wildlife, including hoopoes and chameleons!

The cities of Granada , Cordoba and Malaga are close enough to visit for a day, and are full of fascinating buildings and monuments, as well as wonderful restaurants.

Get here by air to Malaga or Granada airports, both of which are used by budget airlines.

El Padron is a family home and is furnished and decorated with the owners private belongings, which gives the house a homely feel. There is ample room on the various terraces for everyone to have their own space. The stircase in the round tower is steep, with a rope hand rail so care should be taken with the elderly and small children. Access to the house is via a track of approximately 3.5 kilometres, which is driveable in a normal car with a strong engine.

The private pool is free-form, approximately 9 metres long by 3.5 metres at its widest point, and 1.8 metres deep throughout with a ladder. In the garden there is a boules pitch (home rules!) and covered and sun terraces.

The owners of the bproperty live nearby and are available to help if there are any problems, though they will keep a low profile at all other times.


Conditions

A deposit is required to secure the booking, with the balance to be paid 2 weeks before the arrival date. A damages deposit of 500 pounds is required as the house holds many of the familiy's personal belongings - this will be refunded within 2 weeks of departure depending on a satisfactory inspection of the property.
