Arthur´s Vineyard is a large country property, situated inland from the Costa del Sol, the property enjoys spectacular views from its elevated position. From the south side of the property are far reaching views down to the Mediterranean Sea, taking in some of the white washed villages of the area. To the East are views to Moroma the highest mountain in the area and panoramic views over Lake Vinuela, the manmade lake which dominates the views here. To the West you can see the historic village of Comaras, perched on its hill top it was one of the last villages to be captured by the Moors. To the north you will be able to see the Zafarraya Pass and the old road to Granada. All around the villa are the white villages of the Axarquia which make up this lovely part of Andalucía.
The villa itself sits on a ridge nestling between the villages of Los Romanes and Benamargosa. The villa was built by the present owners and is of a high standard with spacious rooms and ample storage space.
Each of the five spacious bedrooms are around 15 sq metres and either have an en suite bathrooms or shower room. And each bedroom has either a balcony or terrace where you can take in the views. The bedrooms have ceiling fans, and all windows have wooden shutters. Each bedroom has its own name, the "Lake Room" enjoys spectacular views over Lake Vinuela and Mount Maroma.
The "Tower Room" is on the same side of the house as the Lake Room so also enjoys lake views, but in addition you can the Tower Atalaya, a medieval watch tower which is at the other end of the ridge and is close to the Buddha Retreat at Trapiche. Outside of this bedroom is a mosaic table where you can sit and take in these views, you can also see the Mediterranean Sea from here.
The "Moroccan Room" is decorated in a style similar to the Moroccan style and is so called because on a clear day you can see the coast of Morocco . Again there is a mosaic table for relaxing and the steps which lead down to the pool from the top of the house start here, giving this room fantastic views of the pool from the window and also across the valley to the villages Cutar, Benamocarra as well as Comaras.
The "Comaras Room" is so called because it has the best views over the valley to the historic village of Comaras. From the balcony of this room you can look down to the pool and terraces and you have lovely views of the valley and the Mountains of Malaga national park.
The "Master Room" is on the ground floor of the villa and has an en suite bathroom and a private terrace with panoramic views over Lake Vinuela.
The dining room has an extending table and seating for 10 people, this room also has views over Lake Vinuela and the mountains beyond. There is a wood burner in this room so if you are in Spain during the cooler winter months you can enjoy family meals here with a cosy fire to keep you warm. The views over the lake in the evening from this room are wonderful especially when there is a full moon rising over Maroma.
The lounge is on the west side of the house and has views over the pool and has access to the terraces that surround the pool. This room also has a wood burner for cooler winter nights, and ample seating for a cosy night in.
Outside there is a large one level pool measuring 11 x 4.5 metres, it is just over one metre deep. The pool is ideal for family fun and water games. Miguel´s Restaurant is famous all over the region and is very popular with the Spanish as well as the holiday makers who come to this area. There are two village shops, one being the old olive oil mill. By the lake side are two more restaurants each with extensive menus and views over Lake Vinuela.
Over the years Arthur´s Vineyard has been enjoyed by young and old, for those wanting to relax and for those who want to use it as a base for traveling around the area. Children love the pool leaving mums and dads to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

The Andalucia region
Lake Viñuela in the Axaquia region of Andalucía is an area of outstanding natural beauty nestling among rugged mountains with whitewashed villages typical of this area of Southern Spain. Arthur´s Vineyard sits on a ridge overlooking the Lake and the surrounding mountains. With views down to the sea on the southern side of the house and across the valley to the historic village of Comares on the western side these views are truly breathtaking indeed. The area enjoys a warm climate during the summer months with gentle breezes to make relaxing afternoons by the pool. Being in the country side the bird watcher will be spoiled for choice, The hoopoe is a regular visitor to the house as are the raptors that enjoy the summer sunshine of Southern Spain.
The area enjoys many summer festivals, each village having it own Saints day and a festival to celebrate that day. Horses are a big part of Andalucía and there are many festivals where the horse and its rider are featured, the riders often dressed in the traditional Spanish costume. This area if full of walks and places of natural beauty, ideal for the painter, walker and cyclist alike. But if you would just like to relax and enjoy the many wonderful view of this area Arthur´s Vineyard is the place to be.
This is a good location for travel to the major cities of Andalucía, Nerja and Malaga are a short ride away and Cordoba Granada and Ronda are all close enough for a day out. Torre del Mar has a large water park and wide beaches and is a lively place in the evenings with street markets and entertainment along the beach. There is a special Fun Fair for the children during July and August. There are festivals taking place during the summer where you will see many of the locals dressed in the traditional costumes of Spain. Tapas Bars and Fish Bars are always buzzing and are an ideal place to relax and people watch.
Lake Viñuela is about 50 kilometres from Malaga Airport, and lies just over 20 kilometres inland from Torre del Mar. Torre del Mar is a bustling coastal town, still very Spanish and always full of activities during the summer months. Arthur´s Vineyard is in tucked away on it´s hill top and so a car is necessary to be able to enjoy this area to its full extent.
Nerja is just along the coast and is full of interesting places to see and has lovely beaches with sun shades for a relaxing day out at the beach! The caves at Maro, just outside of Nerja are a spectacular sight and well worth a seeing.
Granada is only just over an hours drive away where you will find the Alhambra Palace and the quaint older part of the city.
Malaga itself has a feast of things to see, the Picasso Museum is a place of interest and tranquillity or you may like to enjoy wine and tapas in the square of Picasso´s birth place. The old castle is a lovely place to visit and enjoys far reaching views along the coast and over the bull ring and the port. The port at Malaga is now a thriving shopping area and is full of bars and restaurants where you sit and watch the cruise liners as they enter and leave the port.
Cordoba is also a place which is within reach for a lovely day out, in May the Patio Festival is something that is not to be missed. In Cordoba you will also find the wonderful Mosque, and here I agree with one of the old kings of Spain who said that this is the most beautiful building in Spain.
There is a large Water Park at Velez Malaga which is open during the summer months - height restrictions apply.
This whole area is waiting to be explored and there is something of interest for everyone in Andalucía.
