About the home

Delightful two bedroom accommodation, fully equipped with uninterrupted Mountain views. Set on an elevated position, the accommodation is an ideal location for travellers wanting a peaceful and relaxing holiday but with all the conveniences you might need within a short drive.

The nearest beach at Torre del Mar is 20 mins away together with many restaurants and bars. There are many surrounding villages within 2 minutes drive providing local produce and the Town of Velez Malaga offering larger shops is 15mins drive. The are several restaurants overlooking the lake and about 5mins drive.

This is a beautiful villa built in 2002. It is set 45 mins from Malaga, in the small urbanisation of Cortijo Romero, which is 5 mins from the beautiful Lake Vinuela and just over 1 hours drive from the beautiful city of Granada.

We stay at the villa ourselves as much as we can, so we have made it comfortable for our own use. There is a comprehensive inventory, so you really do not need to bring very much with you.

There is a lovely garden with open terrace. We are currently stocking the garden with colourful flowers and plants, and it looks very pleasant. There is ample garden furniture for the outside terrace and newly added in May 2008 is a shaded area by the pool. The barbecue is complete with dining table, 4 chairs and has outside lighting. Whilst relaxing by the pool one can appreciate the breathtaking mountain views.

The swimming pool is approx 5 x 3 metres, with the shallow end being 1.25 metre deep and the deep end being 1.75 metres. The swimming pool terrace has 4 sun loungers and a secluded sitting area for small table and chairs.The villa is secure and the plot is surrounded by a 1.5 metre fence to the front, with lockable gates.

The Andalucia / Malaga Province region

The Costa del Sol stretches along just over 150 kilometres of Málaga province and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations. The area's mild climate is the root attraction that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities year round.

From Malaga eastwards there are cliffs of up to 200 meters where the Sierra Almijara joins the sea. This section ends at a place called Mara, on a coastal plain. It has an urban landscape surrounded by traditional agriculture.

Nerja is the most important urban centre on this end of the coast and has grown rapidly. This town also has one of this area's main tourist attractions - the Nerja Caves, a spectacular find that is open to the public and that hosts an annual music and dance festival within its famous caverns. At the foot of Nerja town a winding footpath joins several coves and there are some nice beaches to be found in this area.

The Lake Vinuela / Los Romanes area

Los Romanes has it's own mini market, bar and very good italian restaurant, and there are more Indian, Spanish, Italian, Chinese restaurants and bars in the villages around the lake, Vinuela, Puente don Manuel, Periana and Benamargosa. A lovely bakery is located just a 5 minute drive into Puento don Manuel with a fish and chip shop, british grocery shop, butchers etc.

Velez Malaga is the place to be at Easter with it Santa Semana (Easter Week). The hot springs of Alhama de Granada are a short trip away and a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Lake Vinuela is well stocked with Carp and Black Bass. Non motor water sports are also permissible on the lake. Torre del Mar just 20 mins away has miles of beach and is a hive of activity during the summer months, just outside of the town there is a large shopping centre with bowling, cinema and water park. We have an excellent bar/restaurant about 1 kilometre from the house, it is a downhill walk so uphill on the way back! The views are fantastic and the peace and quiet unbelievable. Kayaks for the lake, and Quad bikes can be hired locally.

Torre Del Mar

Torre del Mar is one of the main touristic resorts of the Costa del Sol. Located in the eastern part of the Coast, the town is the beach resort of Vélez-Málaga, capital of the Axarquia region. If you wish to taste a bit more of the Costa del Sol and visit a beautiful beach, then Torre del Mar is worth a visit.Just 15 minutes by car from your villa, Torre del Mar is a coastal town with more than 15,000 inhabitants. You can take a stroll along the fantastic promenade and venture into the endless shops, bars and restaurants.
Many of the Spanish residents of the big cities come here along with visitors of all nationalities.

If you enjoy a game of golf, then take advantage of the various golf courses such as Baviera Golf situated only twenty minutes from the villa.
Plans to implement another golf course will begin in 2005. This golf course will be 18 holes and will be almost a stones throw from the villa!
