Home description
Casa Amelia is a beautiful villa built in the old rustic Cortijo style, with lots of charm and high beamed ceilings. It is set 40 mins from Malaga, in the small urbanisation of Cortijo Romero, which is 5 mins from the beautiful Lake Vinuela and just over 1 hours drive from the beautiful city of Granada.
The Villa, has been lovingly reformed to new condition by the present owners. The interior has been furnished to a high standard.
It is surrounded by the mountains of Sierra Tejeda and its white walls and terracotta rooftops compliment the endless blue skies that are characteristic of the historical region of Axarquia.
Casa Amelia boasts the most breathtaking views from the terraces all year round. In the summer season, you can appreciate the views of whitewashed villages and olive clad hills, and in winter, you can admire the glistening snow-capped mountains in the vast landscape whilst bathing in the hot temperatures below. The Gardens are mature and even boast their own fruit trees.

Casa Amelia has many attractions all year round. If you want a taste of city life, then the villa is a mere 40 minutes from Malaga and just over 1 hours drive from the beautiful city of Granada. If a winter holiday appeals to you, then you are only 1 1/2 hours from Sierra Nevada where you can ski down the picturesque slopes.

The Hotel La Vinuela is a short distance from Casa Amelia and overlooks the serene Lake Vinuela. The Hotel restaurant provides an excellent range of traditional dishes to reflect the surrounding region. If you wish to taste a bit more of the Costa del Sol and visit a beautiful beach, then Torre del Mar is worth a visit. Just 15 minutes by car from your villa, Torre del Mar is a coastal town with more than 15,000 inhabitants. You can take a stroll along the fantastic promenade and venture into the endless shops, bars and restaurants. Many of the Spanish residents of the big cities come here along with visitors of all nationalities.

If you enjoy a game of golf, then take advantage of the various golf courses such as Baviera Golf situated only twenty minutes from the villa. Plans to implement another golf course will begin in 2005. This golf course will be 18 holes and will be almost a stones throw from the villa!

Casa Amelia is 40 Minutes from Malaga Airport, 45 Minutes from Granada Airport. Further details outdoors: The 12m x 6m Roman shaped swimming pool, is floodlit and is perfect for a midnight dip. It is complimented with ample sun lounger's, a table, a parasol and chairs for dining by the pool. There is also a poolside shower. The pool is in the garden overlooked by the upper terrace and accessed by steps.The pool area is completely gated off so is very safe for toddlers and babies.
The 15 sq metre south facing terrace is positioned to take full advantage of the stunning views of the surrounding hillsides and whitewashed villages. You can sip your Rioja and never tire of the view, whilst in the evening be amazed at the canopy of stars, which you simply do not see in more built up areas. The private terracing is both shaded and sunny for all that alfresco dining. There is also a built in BBQ.

Just returned from a wonderful break at Casa Amelia, I was sorry to leave such a tranquil haven ! I would recommend the area of La Vinuela to anyone wanting to experience true spanish culture. Just to let you know what a good holiday we had at Casa Amelia, we settled in very quickly, one of the most enjoyable parts of the holiday was watching our three and a half year old grandson learn to swim !! The pool area was lovely as indeed was the garden area and terraces. Always somewhere to sit out of the glare of the sun or to read quietly. Evening meals on the terrace at night were delightful. Hi Angela, just a wee note to say thank you for letting use your villa it was home from home, everything catered for, the views were spectacular,During our two week holiday we only ventured out 3 times, the kids kept saying when are we going back to the villa !! they thought the pool was great, would definitely recommend the villa it was in a great location to see the real Spain,.
