The Umbria region

Umbria is known as 'the green heart of Italy". The beautiful landscape is a combination of rolling green hills, forrests, rivers and lakes. The region has all the charm of neighbouring Toscany, but is less densily populated and not yet spoiled by mass tourism. Its country side boasts beautful scenery and its towns and cities contain a wealth of culture, art and history. Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Foligno en Montefalco are just a few of the pearls of Umbria. There are also plenty of musea to visit, from ancient artefacts in the museums of Perugia, to modern art in Citta di Castello, or from the wine museum in Torgiano to the Umbrian ceramics museum in Deruta.

The region is famous for its cheeses and sausages, but above all for its priceless truffles, which you can find in many of the Umbrian disches. Umbria's climate is very favourable for the production of excellent wines, as evidenced by the famous Orvieto white wines and the Torgiano and Montefalco red wines.

It is not for nothing that Umbria is getting an increasing level of attention and visitors, also helped by world famous events like the Perugia Jazz Festival in July. But the Italians and some of the regular foreign visitors prefer for Umbria to remain a bit undiscovered, so they can get to keep the authentic Italian country life to themselves.

Lake Trasimeno

Lake Trasimeno and its surroundings offers you beaches and lovely hilltop towns to stroll through. With beautiful places like Castiglion del Lago or Passignano you can go shopping, have a cappucino on the many piazza's or head for a meal in one of the wonderful restaurants. In the lake there are two beautiful islands you can visit by ferry. Or you can go swimming in the lake, sailing or fishing. There is plenty to do and see around Lake Trasimeno. But maybe the beauty of the Sento surroundings will keep you just at the poolside!

"Good but by careful"

We staid in Umbria 24th of May to 7th of June and had a wonderful time. The owner over booked Casalo Sento for the first week and found us a nice place nearby. He promised a discount due to the mist… More

thank you for your review. We did make a bookings mistake (the first one in 8 years), which we corrected by offering you a beautiful alternative house for the first week. As far as our admin shows we've included the discount, but please contact us if you believe there's still something not settled. We only like to have happy guests!

"We loved this house"

We loved this house. Everything was just as we wanted it. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were renovated and modern and clean. The pool was exactly what we needed for swimming at the end of a day's sightseeing in the area and for days off. The house is so big that there are plenty of quiet corners, inside and out. The sunset views were magnificent across the olive groves. The kitchen was well equipped and spotless like the rest of the house. The pizza oven was excellent, not only for pizzas but for roasting legs of lamb and chickens. The peace and serenity were wonderful. In short, we loved it and would happily book again. Also Johanna, the owner's agent, was really helpful in telling us of local places to visit and eat. If you're looking for tourist central this place is not for you, but if you want to explore Italy away from the tourist traps, this is an excellent base.

"Endless Italian countryside views, crystal blue pool, outdoor pizza oven, nice home!"

Our family of four (kids were 9 & 12 years) stayed at Casale Sento for two weeks in June of '12, and it was a wonderful vacation. The pictures are very accurate, if anything the house and view a… More

Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. We have taken up all your improvement points and can confirm pool lights are accessible, window screens are fixed and bikes are available! We have further improved with 2 new parking spaces next to the house and access path lighting. Thanks again and we hope to see you back. With best regards. Roland
