Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Traditional 3-bedroom Lakeland cottage near Keswick. This cottage has been lovingly restored. Situated 1 mile from the beautiful shores of Ullswater in the pretty village of Dockray with views of fells and fantastic walking from the door. The mountain ranges of Helvellyn, Blencathra and High Street are near by. The cottage has a peaceful location, private gardens and lots of wildlife on the doorstep including red squirrels, woodpeckers and many other birds.
The cottage is situated in the pretty village of Dockray located just north of Glenridding. This is a good base for exploring the Lake District National Park with the market town of Keswick only 15 minutes drive away.
From the village of Dockray you can enjoy lots of walks including the National Trust's Aira Force, and Gowbarrow- famous for its daffodils that inspired the poet William Wordsworth. Close by is village of Glenridding with sailing club, hotels, pubs, shops and the lake steamer.
The cottage is very comfortable with oil-fired central heating from the Rayburn range in the kitchen. It has a wood burning stove in the living room and heated towel rails in the kitchen and bathroom.
In the living room there is a window seat overlooking the garden and in the main bedroom the window seat overlooks gardens and has fell views. The cottage would suit up to four people having a king-sized main bedroom and two further separate single bedded rooms with countryside and garden views. The cottage has BT broadband so wi-fi is available.
Outside there is a summerhouse with a range of garden furniture, a secure bike shed, a potting shed/log store and two good sized gardens.

All electric, oil is provided as well as high quality white cotton laundered bed linen. 1 basket of logs for the wood burner will be provided.
This is a lovely clean and tidy cottage with an unfussy fresh feel with new furniture, beds and bedding.

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Thank you for your lovely review of the cottage - we're really pleased you liked it. We have now renewed the mattresses with nice comfy new ones. As for the parking, although its free in the village, being in the heart of the Lake District National Park parking costs can be reasonably high but we recommend being a member of the National Trust which makes many parking areas free.

"Beautiful, tranquil and lots of fun"
A well presented cottage full of charm and yet perfect for the family. A great setting close to the lake for swimming and boating and not far from Keswick and Penrith. A wonderful holiday, and a fantastic peaceful location. I would thoroughly recommend it.
