The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
The Vendee is the ideal place to come for a beach holiday - it is the second sunniest region in France and has endless miles of safe, sandy beaches which are very child friendly. But there is lots more beside the wonderful beaches, for one, it is a great place if you are a keen cyclist with hundreds of kms of bike trails exclusively for cyclists. The area also boasts some of the finest golf courses in Europe all within an easy drive of our house.
Lairoux area
Lairoux is a peaceful little village set in the beautiful Vendee countryside and has the added bonus of its own bar within an easy stroll of the house. The nearest boulangerie is less than a 5 minute drive but there is a bread van which visits the village daily for you to purchase your fresh bread and croissants. We are only 8 miles from the nearest beaches at L'Aiguillon/La Faute sur Mer and only about 4 miles from the lively town of Lucon with its magnificent cathedral, beautiful gardens and numerous shops and restaurants.
How to get there
Easily accessible from ferry ports at St Malo, Le Havre and Caen. Budget airline Ryanir flies from Stantstead to La Rochelle which is only a 45 minute drive away. You can also fly to Poitiers and Nantes with Ryanair.

Further details indoors: Beamed, comfortable, spacious open plan living room with ample seating, including sofa bed and satellite TV. There are plenty of books, games and DVDs for your enjoyment. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave etc. There are four bedrooms, all newly decorated, two twin bedded rooms and two doubles all with ceiling fans and ample storage space. There is a family bathroom with a bath, shower and w.c., another separate w.c. and a walk-in shower/wet room.
A high chair, travel cot, changing mat, steam steriliser and childs crockery, cutlery are provided.
Further details outdoors: Pretty, mature garden at the back of the house with a large stone barbecue, garden table and chairs and outside lighting for those night time barbecues.
At the front of the house is the fully enclosed heated pool with lots of space for sunbathing and sunloungers and parasols. There is a grassed area for the children to play on and an outside table tennis table. There is another table, chairs and parasol where you can sit and enjoy a drink whilst watching the children in the pool.

Please enquire about COOKERY CLASSES WITH FRENCH CHEF who comes to the house and prepares for you, or helps you to prepare, an authentic French meal of your choice, with fresh produce from the local market or supermarket.
Conditions
Short breaks of 3 or 4 nights are acceptable outside the peak season.
